machine with 2 ethernet cards e1000 and forcedeth
I am using centos 5 x86_64 AMD64 X2 4200+. I am current on yum update.
My machine has two ethernet cards. e1000 (eth0) and forcedeth (eth1)
[root at fsdsigns2 ~]# more /etc/modprobe.conf
alias eth0 e1000
alias eth1 forcedeth
sometimes on boot the forcedeth driver thinks it is eth0:
[root at fsdsigns2 ~]# dmesg | grep eth
forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver. Version 0.60.

domU, Failed to obtain physical IRQ, e1000 Intel NIC
Hello all.
I''ve upgraded my drives, and in doing so loaded FC8. Latest
kernel-xen.x86_64 (2.6.21.7-5) and xen.x86_64 (3.1.2-5) available, using
2 Intel NICs with e1000 driver. All worked fine on FC5 with custom domU
FC5 with pcifront and NIC drivers in kernel.
Now, I''m unable to get the NICs to function inside my domU. The are
visible in lspci, and ipconfig. DomU dmesg

broadcom 802.3ad
Does anyone have some tips for setting up Broadcom's 802.3AD support
or just getting their driver compiled / installed?
First off, I noticed redhat claims the broadcom bcm5708 driver has
been added to the rhel4 kernel. But I don't see /proc/net/nicinfo
which broadcom claims the driver creates when it's successfully
initialized.
So, I'm trying to build the driver based on the

Pci Export to get usb Dongle working under DomU (Xen 3.2)
Hello everybody,
I''m experiencing some problems while exporting a whole usb hub to my
DomU.
My Dom0 is a Debian Etch using Xen 3.2 and kernel 2.6.18-5-xen-686 SMP
on an intel core 2 duo.
My DomU is a CentOs 5.1 using same kernel.
Both are 32 bits environnements.
I''ve exported my Usb Hub, and a ethernet card, using the
pciback.hide=(04:00.0)(00:1d.0) option to Dom0 kernel.

Gigabit Ethernet and samba network bandwidth
Hi all,
I am notice strange behaviour of samba in our mixed
fastEthernet/gigabitEthernet enviroment.
First of all let me to describe our situation.
We have a samba server running debian unstable with 2.6.3 kernel
installed. Server has a gigabit copper connection (tg3 driver) to the
100/1000 Megabit switch (3COM 4228G). Client is a WinXP/Linux workstation
connected by ordinary 100 Megabit

domU with gigabit ethernet or recommendations?
Dear Xen Users,
I have a rhel5 dom0 machine with four nics, two public and two
private. My goal is to run two xen instances, a fully virtualized
rhel4(with a custom kernel, hence the fully virtualized) and a
paravirtualized rhel5. Each instance will need one public and one
private nic with gigabit connectivity. At the moment I''m simply
bridging two nics to each instance. Is this the

airlink gigabit ethernet card
Hello Xen users,
I want to purchase some gigabit ethernet cards.
Our local Fry''s is having a $5.99 special on Airlink gigabit PCI cards
with the Realtek chipset.
Any experiences with this chipset vis-a-vis xen that would preclude its use?
Thanks for your advice,
Mike Wright :m)

Gigabit Ethernet with multiple VLAN's or Fast Ehternet and with two separate cards?
Hello everyone.
What's better for Asterisk: have 2 distinct 100Mb network cards in the
system, one on the "internet" and one on the "local net" OR have one
1000Mb network card with 2 separate VLAN's set up? It's a difficult
decision because 2 cards are using 2 IRQ's etc but a single 1000Mb card
might generate more PCI interrupts and get me into different

Kvm intel dual gigabit ethernet nic pass thru.
Hello I am having a weird issue with a PCI-X Intel dual gigabit ethernet
nic. While I am partially successful in pass thru with kvm, I have a weird
issue with my pfsense freebsd vm. It see the two nics but gives them the
same Mac address. I'm not sure if this is a pfsense bug or what. The nic
works for everything but this Mac address issue.
Long story short, I guess what I'm asking is

disable auto-negotiation gigabit ethernet
I can not disable the auto-negotiation (eth1) on my centos 6.2 via
ethtool or /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
the eth1 is a private network on a cheap gigabit-switch (under controll
from a serverhoster). sometime the ethernet-card lost the "speed" and
"duplex" information and change it to "unknown". i can only fix this
with a network-restart (or

10 Gigabit Ethernet and Samba
Do anyone have any experience using 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections with
Samba? Specifically, if you have had such an experience, can you share what
sorts of optimizations you made to get the maximum data transfer between server

I am just experimenting with this kind of setup myself and I see a huge GULF

Sun Microsystems Quad gigabit ethernet nic compatibility
Hello I am thinking of buying this card to and wanted to know if this NIC
is supported. The card is a Sun Microsystems PCI-X Quad-Port Gigabit
Ethernet Adapter QGEXPCI 501-6738-10. Can't find any info on how well the
card plays with centos and also proxmox ve (if any of you use that distro )
If things don't seem to work I may bite the bullet and buy an Intel card
thanks
