Postfix Question
I've googled around and although I get a lot of hits about postfix smarthost authentication with ssl, I can not find out how to actually accomplish the task. I've read through smatterings of postings from Neophasis and the like searching for just the syntax and what file (I assume it's main.cf) I should be using; however, any smtpd_ lines I have tried result in postfix hanging and

voicemail use external smtp server for sendingmail
I had the same question, and I want to make sure I'm clear..... This implies to me that Asterisk itself doesn't use SMTP, but rather dumps a message into some directory that Sendmail on the same box will see and process? I have no problem getting Sendmail to use a smarthost, but am I understanding the Asterisk part of this properly, or is there a way to get Asterisk to DIRECTLY use a

Modules design patterns ?
Hi, I''m writing puppet modules since a couple of weeks now, so I''m still considering myself as a new comer in this field. It seems that modules I can find on the web or the recipe page on the wiki almost all use a design pattern where the module is shipped in one or several class(es) whose configuration are determined by "global" or nodes variables ala: module: class

Load Average
Maybe somewhat of a vague question, but what would constitute a moderate and a heavy load as depicted by "top" on any particular machine? I am trying to justify running this machine with near 100% cpu utilization on both, with load averages between 5 and 5 according to top. I don't particularly see any significant slowdown in the running processes, but there is a chance the disk

Centos 6.2 Postfix - forward through SMTP smarthost with SMTP-AUTH
Hi All, I have set up three servers in a development environment. Via CR they're updated to Centos 6.2 It appears that these servers have postfix installed on them by default, which unfortunately I'm not very well acquainted with. All I want is a quick and dirty way to enable these hosts to send email through my own SMTP host. My (sendmail) SMTP host uses SMTP AUTH on a non-standard

SIP routing over IAX2
Hi All, I have two Asterisks, one on the LAN that handles the internal calls with a PSTN interface and one on the DMZ with a public interface. I would like to route SIP calls from the internal users to the Internet over IAX2 to the DMZ and onwards. All users have soft phones so they would enter sip:someuser@somevoip.org to get a connection. I would like to avoid having number prefixes to dial

Mail delivery failing with 450
I'm not sure why this started, but apparently I'm having a DNS problem. Yesterday mail started bouncing with this error: 450 Unable to find obrien-pifer.com I think the messages eventually get delivered, but not sure. I guess I'll see if this one makes the list. I checked my domain using http://www.checkdns.net/ and it gives me a couple warnings. One is that there's no MX

setting up Dovecot
Hello there, I am a new user of Dovecot. I am using version 1.2.12. Here is the config file: I attached the dovecot.conf file as a screenshot using dovecot -n because I am blind and haven't quite figured out how to copy from the terminal to Gnome yet. My intentions here are as follows: 1. To allow only pop3s because I want to use ssl for security. 2. I am going to be using fetchmail

Re: New Standard/Daylight time-change dates in rhel4u2 butnot centos4.2?
The laws already exist: Disturbing the peace, Misappropriation of public funds, Prohibition on unfunded mandates. What's lacking is prosecutors, judges, and juries who see the politicians as getting in the way of the statesmen and the people. To drag this back towards On Topic, it seems to me that the ntp folks might be petitioned to write up and submit to the Congress, a paper

Dear all, It seems that wget version has had the -C (cache) option removed when it went from 1.9 to version 1.10, this happened somewhere between Centos 3.5 and 4.2. Does anyone know why the -C option was removed and how I can get it back? Other than regressing wget..... Regards Pete

[OT] Witty one liners or computer related proverbs
Dear All, I need some witty computer related proverbs or one liners that some of have used in the past as footers for your emails for example. I particularly remember a PERL based transliteration joke/footer that when run in PERL produces a witty output.... This is to fix a problem internally created by an over zealous salesman at my company pinning up A4 sheets with bullSh*t sales proverbs
