Ok,
Here is an update, if I use a kernel later than 2.6.9 eg a fc4 2.6.13
kernel dma works, but I get openswan issues.
In this directory for my orginal kernel:
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.9-22.0.2.EL-smp-i686/include/linux
I looked at the pci_ids.h header file and found this line:
/* ATI IXP Chipset */
#define PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_IXP_IDE 0x4349
I spoke to my buddy at ATI and he reckons it should be ok just to change
the header file, I haven't checked the fc4 kernel source yet
So I changed it to 0x4369 to match my chipset, [found this from a bit of
googling to support this theory]
------------------------
When I try to make a new kernel I get this error (using make rpm)
--------------------------
CHK include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h
/bin/sh: arch/i386/kernel/asm-offsets.s: No such file or directory
UPD include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h
mv: cannot stat `include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h.tmp': No such file or
directory
make[2]: *** [include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h] Error 1
make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
HOSTCC scripts/basic/split-include
HOSTCC scripts/basic/docproc
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.45549 (%build)
RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.45549 (%build)
make[1]: *** [rpm] Error 1
make: *** [rpm] Error 2
-----------------------
I found the missing asm-offsets.h from the equivalent uni-proc kernel,
and copied it across, however the "make clean" part of "make
rpm"
deletes this file.
Question is, does anyone know why this file would be missing, has
anyone seen it before?
Any advice is welcome!
Pete
