pxelinux - use IP's for config files
I know it's possible to set a DHCP parameter to tell pxelinux to use a mac
address as the pxelinux cfg file name-- is it possible to tell it to use
the IP it is being assigned as the filename?

Where is my bottleneck?
I'm running rsync via ssh on two machines connected with 100 Mbit/s
Ethernet cards (at high speed) via a Linksys switch. It's all right
here in a single closet. I'm sending large files (initial transfer,
nothing preexists on the destination machine) and seeing transfer rates
in the 2 Mbit/s range. The CPUs on both machines are more than 90%
idle, and I upped the --block-size to 256

function on factors - how best to proceed
Sorry about this one being long, and I apologise beforehand if there
is something obvious here that I have missed. I am new to creating my
own functions in R, and I am uncertain of how they work.
I have a data set that I have read into a data frame:

Is it possible to use PXELinux/SYSLinux with out changing DHCP Server settings ?
Hi,
We have some 100 Servers (includes both Intel and PPC based systems). Is
there any way to easly install OS (different flavours of Linux) on these
systems ? We do not have control over the DHCP Server settings so is there
any way to do this with out touching the DHCP Server ?
We have static IPs for all the systems.

using menu's to boot kernels
I've now been able to test the simple.com in dosemu, worked fine. We
provide a CD that has multiple kickstart configurations on it and users
are prompted as to what type of server they want to build based upon the
isolinux.cfg selections. My goal is to use Murlai's menuing system
instead because the large number of configs is taking too much screen real
estate.

tftp server with mysql backend
Are there any open source efforts ( I haven't found any) that have a tftp
server with a mysql backend? I'd like an incoming pxelinux request to
give the tftp server the mac address, and then it performs a query to find
out which configuration file it should get. Of course it would be great
if some day tftp-hpa would integrate with libmysql..
Thanks,

Bug#302744: logcheck-database: postfix rules
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.36
Severity: wishlist
Hello,
I recently blew away my old logcheck-databse and lost a number of changes that i had made to postfix entries. The default database for postfix reports the
following errors that do not seem to be important...

Reg. I/O callbacks.
Supposing I want to use the File decoder., and set the I/O callbacks.
How do I do it? The API (version 1.1.2) documentation gives functions to
set the ``write``, ``metadata`` and ``error`` callback. What about the
``read``., ``eof``, etc. callbacks.
If i'm using the file decoder., can i still use the functions from the
stream_decoder_set_* for this?

I am new to PXE booting and I have a question about PXE within Red Hat
I find an RPM called PXE in legacy (9.0 and earlier) versions of Redhat
Linux but I don't find it in more recent versions. Is there a reason
for this or am I missing something?
Is there, somewhere, an instruction for setting up PXE under Red Hat
Fedora Core or Red Hat Enterprise?
I want to roll out a large number of machines with only an Ethernet card
for I/O and PXE seems to be The Right

tftp-hpa versus atftpd
I'm interested to find out how many people are running tftp-hpa versus atftpd.
I'm almost a bit surprised in how many people seem to be using tftp-hpa; for
modern Unix systems (including Linux), I would in general assume atftpd to be
a better choice.
If you have tried both and specifically chosen (as opposed to "it was already
installed", etc.) I'd be interested in

Re: samba digest, Vol 1 #1924 - 22 msgs
I had a similar issue on my Debian box. It seemed that setfacl didn't
care for special characters. I changed the separator character to -
(dash) instead of + or \ and it worked fine.
Good luck!

pxe weirdness
I know that this is not a pxelinux/syslinux question (yet), but I am
having a weird issue with a HP ML370.
It is using HP UNDI PXE 2.1 (build 082) v 3.1.15
I successfully get an IP address from my DHCP server, but the machine
fails when it attempts to make it's TFTP connection with:
"PXE-E32 - TFTP Open timeout"
It never gets the pxelinux.0 file.
The odd thing I noticed was

commercial wan simulators do (which cost 7000 $ or more).

Large-scale ACL copying?
Hi all,
Well, I'm getting somewhere I think, I now have both ACL support and
domain login basically working. However I'm at a bit of a loss as to how
to proceed.
Basically I want to copy over a large number of files and directories
(~300k files, ~60Gb total) from an existing W2k server to a Samba
server. These files have existing ACLs set, so I need to preserve them
somehow.
I can

RPMs available
I put together a spec file that appears to build binary RPMs quite
happily. Binary packages for i386 are available at
http://www.terminus.com/~bos/klibc
To build RPMs, just type "make rpm" in the top-level directory of CVS
head or today's CVS snapshot. The packaging mechanism isn't exactly the
same as the usual "build an RPM from a SRPM" scheme, as it builds in
