[memdisk] collision between memdisk and emm386 (FreeDOS)
Hi I'm using memdisk as part of CD Shell' isolinux. I've created custom floppy disk image 8440kB size. I've put FreeDOS kernel and bootsector into the floppy. Boot process goes fine with this command: isolinux /boot/memdisk initrd=/ximg/fdos.img c=60 h=8 s=36 floppy The problems begin when I try to run FreeDOS memory manager emm386 from the floppy image. my config.sys: ...

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
Hi, I've got the same Problem. Not with WinMe but Win 98SE. But what I figured out is, that it doesn't realy apply to the Command.com rather to the Way the BootImage was created. It took me a long time to get my Hands on a Image with 2.8MB that's working. Since creating one my self, was allways failling. I downloaded the Bootutils 4.3 from 3com and used the Imageedit tools. With these

Memdisk + Freedos problem
I and some other people have problems with running the freedos image included in Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD), when using memdisk for floppy emulation. Memdisk starts booting the image and freedos shows the following menu: 0 Boot Clean 1 Boot UMBPCI (silent) 2 Boot UMBPCI (optimal) 3 Boot UMBPCI (semi-defensive) 4 Boot EMM386 (optimal) 5 Boot EMM386 (semi-defensive) 6 Boot no UMB (defensive) 7 Boot

Re: WinME command.com
Hi.. Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into any bootable image and its really giving me problems.... I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME.. Problem with FreeDOS + himem64 + PXELINUX + memdisk
(FreeDOS developers, I apologize for the redundant parts of this message. But I want to bring the SYSLINUX folks into the discussion, and the SourceForge mailing list archives are broken.) Background: I have a little Sourceforge project (http://unattended.sourceforge.net/) for which I use SYSLINUX to provide CD-ROM and PXE boot support for my boot disk. And it works great with MS-DOS. However,

Pxelinux/memdisk with Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy
Just for the record, I want to let the list know that I succeeded in booting a modified Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy from http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/ I started with a Win98 Bootfloppy from http://www.tobs.uku.co.uk. Then I made a disk image from this, using dd.exe from cygwin. Then I converted this disk image from 1.44MB to 2.88MB with winimage. Then I copied

AW: AW: flashing bios & memdisk
> No. Big real mode is not real mode, and in particular > MEMDISK doesn't have the control over what mode transitions > the world outside MEMDISK performs. i understand. if only dos will be used (without himem, emm386 or something like that) that the cpu will be leaved in real mode, is that correct? and e.g. bios update would work... mfg johannes

Disabling MEMDISK
I have added instructions to memdisk.doc for how to disable MEMDISK. However, it's unlikely that this will work if you're running under DOS, since DOS will be very unhappy about drives changing underneath it. Anyway, until the next (pre)release comes out, here are the instructions: --- memdisk.doc 27 Apr 2004 06:49:36 -0000 1.10 +++ memdisk.doc 6 Jul 2004 01:29:03 -0000 @@ -122,5

Spaces in WinME Directory Names
Hello! I've finally gotten Samba and WinME to connect and see each other. On my WinME box I've got the usual My Documents folder which I'd like my Linux box to be able to use. I think there's a problem with the space in the directory name. smbmount //WinME/My Documents ~/mountpoint 2854: tree connect failed: ERRSRV - ERRinvnetname (Invalid network name in tree connect.) WinME, Win2000: status
Hi all Some time ago I asked about support of WinME and Win2000. The answer was: not ready yet. These days, when people enjoy VSS under Linux, I have to admit I really need wine:) So in a word: can I use Wine with any of these OSes? Could anyone please point me out to the settings I need in my config file (I am especially interested in Profile option)? Thanks in advance Sergey

Lan Kernel Problem
I'm building a Linux box to act as Proxy/Router/Firewall. I'm using CentOS 4.5, with an "old" motherboard (Asus A8V-X), and two Ethernet NIC, based on a realtek chip, that's widely supported under 2.4 and later kernel (the cards were functioning excellent in another PC whit Fedora Core 1). CentOS detects the on board LAN, but not the other two, in fact, knoppix 5.0.1

WinME
Hi, Is there any way to run win32 applications emulating winME. I'm talking about the ie6 setup tool. (I can't connect to the internet under windows). I'm running wine-010623-stripped from daily wine and am using glibc 2.1.3 on a Redhat 6.2 system. Installing CentOS on RAID PATA not SATA - A8V
I'm trying to install CentOS 4 on an A8V on the PATA/Raid drives on the Promise controller. The Promise controller is recognized (sata_promise), but the PATA drives are not recognized. Base on this thread https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=147303 it seems that there is a patch which was merged in 2.6.11 to get pata working. Any ideas how to proceed? Thanks in advance
