FWIW...
Good morning, everyone...
Perhaps this will either help or encourage others interested in using
CentOS as a networked workstation. It is based upon my experiences, and
all other disclaimers apply.
1. I did a basic workstation install from 4.1 CD's deploying KDE and Gnome
desktops and, other than a few minor issues, mostly of my making,
everything went smoothly. The install process is

CentOs6 - Ltsp
Dear All,
I'm sending this mail in relation to a post on the CentOs 6 forum :
https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32545&start=0#forumpost139559
CentOs 6 works great so far, and I do not want to sound impatient, but
I'm eager to find out when Ltsp would be
available on CentOs6 - or even in Rhel6.
We now use Kiwi-Ltsp on OpenSuse and

Thin client server setup
Hi,
I am thinking of settting up a thin client server setup.
I would like to set it up to work with linux and windows.
I was going to use Symbiont but it says it needs a different version of
linux to install. Has anyone used it with Centos before?
Would it be easier to just install LTSP and set it up.
I would like to b have a small box that does the dhcp and then allows
users to logon to

Missing rpms for samba-ldap script
I was pointed to: http://web.vcs.u52.k12.me.us/linux/smbldap/
As an effective script to get samba/ldap configured for a PDC. It is
written for Fedora 3 core or the K12LTSP distro. of course I discovered
this after installing the Centos distro. Now it is decision time: stay
with Centos and get this working or move the the K12 distro. This setup is
for the small business network in my basement

Shorewall Documentation Updates, Request for Input
Hello,
I have the go ahead to fix documentation. For starters I will clean all
extraneous crap from the markup. Then fix any errors and typos.
If anyone sees any gramatical errors or typos or needed clarifications or
expansions or whatever, please post them here.
Or additional FAQ entries, etc, all will be considered.
I hope to keep most of this conversation on the shorewall-devel list.

1.6.1 Voicemail users.conf
Hello,
We recently upgraded our Asterisk box from 1.4 to 1.6.1. In both versions of
voicemail you can press 3 for advanced options, 5 to leave a message and
enter an extension to leave a voicemail. This feature worked fine under 1.4.
Now under 1.6.1 all the prompts are the same but when you enter the
extension it reads back the extension (or says the recorded name if present)
then goes straight

Light-weight voice recognition for IVR
Hello list,
'Just wondering if anyone can point to a very light-weight and easy to
incorporate into Asterisk (v. 11.x) to handle a minimal set of responses,
like:
0 - 9
yes
no
(maybe * and # for some people)
The idea is that within an IVR menu, the caller could respond by speaking
to the typical IVR options, like:
For Archie, press or say 1 now
For Veronica, press or say

2 DHCP server in one subnet
Hello all,
In the network there is already a W2K server serving as DHCP server for the
network. Then we want to implement LTSP, so we need to setup another DHCP
server, right?
Due to unexpected reason (little by little migration of w98 clients to LTSP),
we need to keep the W2K server running in that network. Can we then have 2
DHCP server in the same subnet, only serving pre-determine clients

Hi,
I'm trying to install K12LTSP based on CentOS 5.0-el 32bits kernel
2.6.18-8 on a server with 3ware 9650SE raid controller. Does anybody

is only supported from kernel 2.6.19.
Thanks for any help

MWI and 1.6.1
We are having an issue with Asterisk 1.6.1 and the MWI turning on when a
user doesn't have voicemail. We see random MWI lights come on and the phone
indicates a random number of messages (its been anywhere from 1-14) when a
server reload is done.
I just checked one user, they have no messages old or new and the phone
(Polycom IP330) indicates that they have 2 messages. The user will check for

As others seem to already asked without reply, I''m getting lower speed rates

# Filter intranet traffic, so fit it to intranet speed

I'm looking at setting up a sort of 'appliance' server and as such
its really not going to have a lot packages etc. I thought of installing
4.2 on a 1gb USB stick, however, the stick is not even recongnized by
anaconda. It did appear when I did 'modprobe usb-storage.ko' as /dev/sdc
(i have already have 2 SATA disks which are sda, sdb). Then the disk

meetme dahdi and zaptel
We recently updated our Asterisk (1.4.24) box from Zaptel (1.4.12.1) to
Dahdi (2.1.0.4). Everything seemed to go smooth with the exception of
meetme. Meetme seems to not be able to find a zap channel for conferencing.
We use voice introductions in our conference bridge and it seems to break
that feature. The error from the console is....
