Update on Using Dovecot with Webmin
First of all thanks for the replies.
I have decided to try the updated version 1.0 alpha
After uninstalling Dovecot .99 and cleaning up user, groups and files.
(Dovecot .99 was authenticating as best I can tell using unix users = the
default -- and PAM = the default - I only had to setup the PAM if I
remember correctly.
Loaded Dovecot 1.0, made sure user, folders and files all seem to be

Script file editors for Windows - submit highlighted text?
Greetings,
I use S+, Stata, SAS and R depending on the weather... The
script file editors in S+, SAS and Stata all allow me to submit a
portion of a developing script file to the running process. In R I have
to use an external editor and either source the entire file or do lots
of copy-and-pasting. Are there any editors out there which interface
to R more closely and let me submit a section

html manual files nonfunctional
R help.start() opens a web browser as expected, but the ?Manual? html links
are dead (although the ?Reference? and ?Miscellaneous Materials? html links
do work). I get a similar problem from within RStudio.
I?d like to get pointy-clicky html manuals working, to help migrate users
from SAS to R.
I do see R manuals on this system from the EPEL R rpm's in info and pdf
form, for example at

size units in xen-create-image, and other newbie doubts
Greetings,
I'm fiddling with Xen at home, the dom0 is a freshly installed Debian
stable (current 6.0.6 squeeze) using LVM over RAID.
I want to use two VGs, so the pointy-clicky won't really do since
--lvm only takes one argument (i assume). That's no big deal, i can
use LVM tools and even the partitions.d scripts xen-tools can use and
provide a partition template through the

introducing R to high school students
I participate peripherally on a listserve for middle- and high-school
science teachers. Sometimes questions about graphing or data analysis
come up. I never miss an opportunity to advocate for R. However, the
teachers are often skeptical that their students would be able to
issue commands or write a little code; they think it would be too
difficult. Perhaps this stems from the Microsoft- and

Hello,
i saw you posted on dovecot.org and was hoping you could assist with a
problem i have with dovecot.
I installed the attached file to webmin and clicked it said it installed
correctly:
Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server in /usr/libexec/webmin/dovecot (372 kB) under
category Servers
I clicked the link and then clicked "Start Dovecot Server" from the webmin
panel and got this error:

LiteSpeed
Yo Zed,
Just curious -- what do you think of the LiteSpeed
server? Is it better than Lighty? Does it (gasp!) also
serve Rails apps like Mongrel? I think I read that
LiteSpeed doesn''t have proxying support.
Thanks,
Joe

Warning! Webmin Security Advisory
The last version of Webmin has an error which allows users to both guess
the valid usernames and attempt brute force password attacks against
machines running webmin. I have already informed the developers of
webmin, and they have released an update which fixes the problems
described below. It is available at the URL at the end of this
document. Details follow:

NetBIOS problems in presence of audio stream?
At work I have been given the task of building and testing a Samba server.
After several days of not being able to get the server to show up in Network
Neighborhood, I think I have discovered the problem. The business uses an
audio stream from Live365.com, apparently that is causing the other computers
to not see the Samba server in Network Neighborhood. Pinging the server

Hello,
This is sort of a FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE question but it may be perl or

Webmin Shorewall Patch
My description of the incorrect use of the term ''SNAT'' on the Static NAT
Webmin page was apparently misunderstood. Attached is a patch against the
Webmin-1.070 Shorewall module that corrects this problem and also adds the
''DNAT-'' action for rules.
To apply the patch, you will need the ''patch'' utility:

Webmin module
Hi
on the download site for asterisk, there is one directory called webmin
and I presume that this contains a webmin module for Asterisk, yet this
doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere.
Is this unfinished work in progress? typically webmin modules are in
form of .wbm packages that can be installed using webmin itself, but I
couldn't find any such module in the webmin directory nor

webmin/usermin and winbind authentication
Hi all!
I wonder is it possible to authenticate webmin/usermin users via winbind? I
tried to convert users from Unix to webmin users but it failed: user did not
show up. Well, more likely I have a need for usermin authentication but I
suppose that they function like same..
I have no local users (expect one) and all user information comes from NT
PDC. All other auths like pop or login works

SELinux question - to fix bug in Webmin
I found a bug in Webmin when using Webmin with SELinux in Permissive
Mode. The author of Webmin, asked me, in their bug tracker on
