Script to convert mboxes to maildirs?
Does anybody know of a script of a simple method of
converting mbox mail stores to maildirs? I'm moving
from an old pop3 system to imap and after installing
about half our office with mboxes have found that mbox
does not support subfolders which some people like to
use.
Is there any simple way of converting? I can go to
each individual account and "manually" convert swaping
data

SSL Certificates and multiple domain names
How can I have Dovecot either return a different certificate for each
domain/hostname or a certificate that supports multiple names? I
currently access my imap server through two different hostnames and
three domain names.

Namespace Feature
I've never used namespaces and don't quite know what they do. If I add a
namespace then do things like shared folders magically appear to users?
Also - I wonder if this is possible. I'd like to create a write only
shared folder.
I know this is unusual but I have a reason. I'd like to have a folder
that people can drag spam into to report missed spam. I want to write

performance problem?
Hi,
I'm running dovecot on a small server. I put all my mail from the last
10 years on it (approx. 160 mb).
I'm seeing terrible performance. Sometimes, my client needs several
minutes to display a message. This is with mutt, thunderbird and
evolution. Copying an outbound message to the Sent IMAP folder (15k
messages) typically takes a few minutes, but can be quite fast on

folders via softlink
I have recently switched from the UW imap server to dovecot and things
seem to be working nicely. One thing that I can't seem to figure out
however, is how to get dovecot to show folders that are a softlink.
We run SpamAssassin. Users can use both their own personal spam folder
as well as a shared spam folder. For messages that everyone would
consider spam, the user can simply drag the

deploying dspam
Hi everyone,
I've been thinking of phasing out my spamassassin installation (it's
hardly doing me any good these days) in favour of dspam. Now since I'm
working on this anyway, I thought I'd configure it so when users get any
spam, it is delivered into a special folder. I figure I need the 1.0
test series for this, so I can make that folder fixed. But, I also want

entourage + dovecot bug?
I have dovecot set up to run IMAP services without SSL (I have tested many
other configurations as well, but this reproduces the problem the
simplest). When attempting to connect to the imap server using Entourage
for OS X on a mac, I receive the following error:
Mail could not be received at this time.
The server returned the following error

Outside mails
Hi,
I recently found out that I was able to get system mails, but not mails
from the outside world. What setting do I have to fiddle with for this?

Sieve plugin
The Sieve plugin page of Wiki documentation
(http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sieve?highlight=%28filter%29) says:
"It's also not a good idea to build the plugin against self-compiled
Dovecot sources, but then actually use a prebuilt binary package of
Dovecot."
Why isn't a good idea?
Ciao,

Dovecot won't stay running
This weekend I upgraded my OS from FC4 to FC6. At the same time I updated
Dovecot from 0.99 to 1.0.0.
Now, dovecot periodically shuts off.
It will run fine for several hours then just dies.
Right now my solution is to run a cron every 5 minutes to see if it?s still
running, and if not, re-start it.
I?m also having trouble finding any sort of meaningful logs to tell me
what?s going on.

dovecot memory consumption beta vs. old "stable" series
Hi!
I just wanted to know if anyone can give a definitive answer if dovecot
beta's memory requirements are much better than in the old pre-alpha
"stable" series?
I'm using a rather old stable.20050712 release on an also rather old
Debian Sarge box to manage my personal mails. I'm pretty satisfied with
this dovecot release but it's memory consumption when deleting

Hallo Liste
Derzeit mache ich meine ersten Gehversuche mit Linux (SuSE). Bis jetzt

Patches
As the freeze for Debian sarge slowly approaches I want to make sure
the Dovecot packages are in as good condition as possible. I see there
have been a number of patches since 0.99.10. I have added the following
patches:
* segfault when user home directory is empty
* Proper PAM service name
* Make suid work on 2.6 kernels
Any other patches thatI ought to add. Or better yet, will there be a

Sending email using IMAP
This is something for after the 1.0 release but I think it's important
and I'm going to try to figure out how to make it happen. I'd like to
see some way to pass outgoing email from Thunderbird back to dovecot
through some new command that we would have to make up. Email would be
sent back over the IMAP connection and when Dovecot gets it dovecot
would hand it off to an SMTP

One dovecot, multiple domains
Hey guys, I've got dovecot configured to work perfectly for virtual users across
different domains. It's great.
My problem is that, as far as I can tell, dovecot makes me use one SSL
certificate across all my domains. That's not what I want. Is there a way I can
get dovecot to use the cert for mail.foo.com when somebody is logging into a
foo.com account, and the cert for

Seen-Flag and Virtual
Hello,
We have a very large folder structure (in a public namespace) on our
Dovecot server and would now like to create a virtual folder
containing all mails of the publick namespace.
This worked quite well with dovecot-virtual, but the read status
(\seen) is not preserved.
i.e. when I read a mail inside the virtual folder, the read status
does not affect the original mail.
Dovecut was
