Hi, I'm running dovecot on a small server. I put all my mail from the last 10 years on it (approx. 160 mb). I'm seeing terrible performance. Sometimes, my client needs several minutes to display a message. This is with mutt, thunderbird and evolution. Copying an outbound message to the Sent IMAP folder (15k messages) typically takes a few minutes, but can be quite fast on occasion (Thunderbird). How can I debug this problem? I'm running dovecot .99.14 on a Mac Mini (OS X 10.3, 512 mb, 80 gb). -- Han-Wen Nienhuys - hanwen at xs4all.nl - http://www.xs4all.nl/~hanwen

(about 650 MB distributed over about 100 imap folders) The performance is quite ok although obviously it's not blazingly fast. Very obviously a young woman. There was no possible way that she could have been mistaken for a young man in any language, especially Braille. -- The goddess with the nice earrings (Terry Pratchett, Maskerade) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + PGP-verschl?sselte Mails bevorzugt! + +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

That should make Dovecot pretty fast as long as you don't delete old messages. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... However, I'm running maildir, and I think something's fishy with MacOS's directory handling. Haven't figured out what, though. -- Han-Wen Nienhuys - hanwen at xs4all.nl - http://www.xs4all.nl/~hanwen
