help: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Invalid mask.
Am tryin to move from uw-imapd to dovecot, using dovecot ver 0.99.9.1-1
on debian. Using Mozilla Mail v 1.3 currently using mbox format.
I made some test accounts and they seem to be working fine, but my older
existing accounts give error messages whenever I connect or subscribe to
mailboxes within them. The message that appears on the client is:

esthetics --- extending the lm command to fixed effects?
dear R wizards:
not important. more a curiosity or esthetics question.
is there a way to extend the standard lm command, so that it takes a new
argument that handles fixed effects? right now, I have (provided to me
from an expert---I would have never figured this one out):
diffid <- function(h,id) {
id <- as.factor(id)[, drop=TRUE]
apply(as.matrix(h), 2, function(x) x

How do downgrade mozilla ?
Hello
Sorry to say this to everyone, but since I installed CentOS 6 a month ago
I found that both Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird crash big time
(meaning every day and even more than once a day) with a large INBOX or
newsgroup, or with many tabs open in the Firefox windows. I also keep my
work computer running over night usually, maybe this is also a factor.
Knode does not do a

*** post for FREE via your newsreader at post.newsfeeds.com ***
I'm using WINE (20010731) with RedHat 7.2. I'm trying to run some Windows
NT command tools with WINE such as usrmgr.exe, netsvc.exe, etc. USRMGR.EXE
loads fine, but it says on the Windows app window "RPC Protocol error".
I'm wondering whether WINE supports RPC apps. Am I missing RPC support on

character strings with embedded commands: perl "/gee" ?
dear R experts---I am trying to replicate a perl feature. I want to be
able to embed R commands inside a character string, and have the
string be printed with the command executed. my perl equivalent is
my $a=10;
my $teststring = "the expression, $a+1, is ::$a+1::, but add one
more for ::$a+2::\n";
$teststring =~ s/::(.*?)::/$1/gee;
print $teststring;
of course, R does not use

Sharing in another network (wrong mail)
I've send the last message with pbrandao.spam@inescn.pt
As you can see, and imagine .spam is only for not receiving spam mail
due to posts in newsgroups.
By mistake I didn't change the recipient when I sent this mail.
As I'm a bit in a worry, and desperately for an answer, I'm sending this
warning so that a possible answer wouldn't get lost due to my mistake.
Thanks again

FAST MONEY!!!!!!
DO YOU WANT TO MAKE EASY MONEY?
I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while
back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came
across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of
dollars WITHIN WEEKS with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought,
"Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was

Error in IMAP command GETACL: Unknown command..
Hi all,
I have just installed dovecot on my Fedora Core 2 box. I would like to
use it only for reading archived email from within my Mozilla 1.7.3.
I syminked my old opera-files (*.mbs whoch seems to be same as mbox)
into ~/mail. Seems to work fine, mostly I can open the mailfiles -
sometimes it hangs with the following error:

S: expert mailing list for general statistical questions
Hello R users and experts
Once in a while I have got questions that are not so much
R-related but related to (social scientific) statistics in
general. R-help would be the wrong list for such posts, and I am
looking for a similar mailing list or newsgroup (nntp). (It is
just a personal taste that I don't like web forums.) I have
googled and found a variety here:

cemw newsgroup and this mailing list, still connected?
Hi everyone,
Are the wine-users mailing list and news:comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine
newsgroups still connected ?
I've subscribed to the mailing list, then posted a message on the
newsgroup ( news:44f3c571$0$164$a3f2974a@nnrp1.numericable.fr ) but I
don't see it on the mailing list nor on gmane.org . That seems also true
for many other messages on news:gmane.comp.emulators.wine.user .

Can't access files at WinXP boot time
I have a couple of WinXP/SP2 machines that access Samba (v2.2.12, on a Red
Hat v9 box) shares. The files on those shares are not immediately
available at WinXP boot time, despite "Reconnect at login" being in
effect for all network drives.
The shares are actually working. If I look at them with Windows Explorer
all the files are seen. I was advised in the WinXP newsgroups to set

happen with the first dovecot-stable (20050131). A partial connection log is

An Open source phone based on Speex
ivo and others,
i am having a very interesting exchange about the LTP with diana. I took
it offline from speex-dev as it would not interest everyone here. I will
reply to ivo separately. I have also setup a mailing list on

but the key issues that the solves is that:
