Fortran compilation error

problem updating packages on Ubuntu 7.10
I am running Ubuntu 7.10 and R-2.6.0, and I am having trouble updating packages. There appears to be a problem involving gfortran. RAqua and gcc
Hi, I've recently purchased PowerBookG4 (panther) and installed RAqua 1.8.1. I also installed gcc version 3.3 through Xcode tools. Hmisc compilation problem
I upgraded my system to Fedora Core 7 and got a compilation problem when installing Hmisc package. According to the error messages (shown below), I have tried to updated all of my glibc, gcc, automake rpm packages, but that did not help. Could you help me pointed out what package I have missed? Infinite Loop when installing a package from source (PR#9258)

cutting out numbers from vectors
i have a vector with values similar to the below text [1] 001-010-001-0 I want to get rid of all leading zeroes. for example i want to change the values of the vector so that [1] 001-010-001-0 becomes [1] 1-010-001-0. In the Hmisc package there is a new data class 'mChoice' for multiple choice variables. There are format and as.numeric methods (the latter creates a matrix of dummy variables). mChoice variables are not allowed by model.frame. Is there a way to specify a conversion function that model.frame will use automatically? I would use as.factor here. model.frame does not seem to use
