Dear all, Will R run under Win2000 or is it safer to stay with NT4.0 for a while? I think that on Intel chips with release drivers (e.g. for graphics and printers) there have been no reports of problems (and a few of success). We have heard of problems on one Athlon (AMD K7) and with one beta graphics card driver on PIII. I am fairly sure Guido now tries binaries on W2K. We don't normally have it available as it will not work with our Unix-based authentication (whereas NT4 and W98 via third-party addons will). My computing officers have decided to stay with NT4 for AY 2000-1. -- Brian D. Hi- I have run various versions of R (1.1,0 now) since oct 1999 on various win2k betas and final release and have had no win2k specific problems. (except those associated with many applications under win2k eg under win2k running r try help about r; click on r icon in task bar and you're locked out of console until you alt tab to r info box and close it) regards Bob Sandefur Principal Geostatistician Pincock, Allen and Holt, Inc. I've been running R 1.1.0 under Windows 2000 (2 different machines) for about a month now. So far, it is as stable as the version on my NT4 system. I've more quirky problems with R under Win98 (video problems it seems) than under any flavor of NT.
