Shorewall users - Jul 2005 - New user with issues

Hi All,

I just joined this list because I am setting up a
firewall for my office and decided to use this great
piece of software.  I am having a problem
understanding the documentation in the following
areas:

1) shorewall seems to rewrite my routing table
removing all my configurations.  I have the following
setup:

at our webserver colo facility
Inet --> eth0 (12 M ethernet)
local --> eth1 (192.168.5.1) points to a T-1 for the
192.168.4.xx network at our office.
dmz --> 192.168.1.1 web facing webservers and mail
ect.

I have to have some routing info stored for the
192.168.4.xx range.

2) when I bring up the shorewall startup script I dont
see any of the natted interfaces I have written in the
nat file on the external interface.  I have aliasing
turned on in shorewall.conf.  

any help would be great
