[Shorewall-users] xDSL and Cable Connection Failover
I''ve been doing some research and I haven''t found the complete answer, so I thought I''d post it to all of you. Here''s what I want to do: RH 7.3 System with 4 NIC''s eth0 for PPPOE based DSL (netdsl) eth1 for DHCP based Cable Internet (netcable) eth2 for WWW, MAIL, FTP Servers (dmz probably DNAT) eth3 for 10.0.1.0 network (loc) I have Dynamic DNS for my domains. First problem: Can anyone suggest a failover package to support this? I''m looking at failoverd but not sure if it''s what I need or should I hack through gated, although I''m not very familiar with it? I need to run a different Dynamic DNS script depending on the active/primary connection. If I could do outbound (loc to netdsl and netcable) load balancing as well, that would be great but not necessary. I''ve been using Shorewall for a few months now, awesome gob guys! And I think it should be able to handle the firewalling/NATing for both connections using DNAT for www mail ftp to DMZ. Am I on the right track? If you could point me down the appropriate paths, that would be great! Thanks Colin
