The basic functionality of Shorewall 2.2.2 works fine with the soon-to-be-released SuSE 9.3 (I have an early copy). I''ll be trying it over the weekend with more complex configurations involving IPSEC and OpenVPN. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net PGP Public Key \ https://lists.shorewall.net/teastep.pgp.key

One Former SuSE employee said 9.3 was the best release he had ever seen from SuSE. I have several machines that will be upgrading, and all of them run shorewall. Soon as I can by or steal a copy... ;-) -- ______________________________________ John Andersen NORCOM / Juneau, Alaska http://www.screenio.com/ (907) 790-3386 .

Even the first Beta was relatively free of problems; I personally only ran into two: a) Syslogd didn''t start automatically at boot. b) There was no VPN solution available if you installed from CDs (the set of products on SuSE CDs is a very proper subset of those on the DVDs). The upgrade of my 9.2 desktop system to 9.3-final went flawlessly as did the upgrade of my crash-and-burn system from Beta 3 to final. I''ll upgrade the laptop in the morning. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net PGP Public Key \ https://lists.shorewall.net/teastep.pgp.key

The only thing that I don''t like about SUSE is the multimedia support..too much reduced set of video/audio codecs ..but is solved just compiling MPlayer ;=) I `ll upgrade my systems when the new version goes out. -Cristian

If you Google search for "SuSE Totem", you''ll find third-party RPMs that get around these issues. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net PGP Public Key \ https://lists.shorewall.net/teastep.pgp.key

How? (smirk). Hey, I built a MythTv box out of 9.1 with no problems. Now I have to put shorewall on it so I can stream Mariner games to my laptop without servicing the neighborhood. -- ______________________________________ John Andersen NORCOM / Juneau, Alaska http://www.screenio.com/ (907) 790-3386 .
