Zapata?
Whatever happened to the Zapatatelephony project?
The last information there is from 2001 and a lot of new cards have been
released since.
Has GNU hardware development completely stopped?

torisa rev b
?Hola!
torisa.c (from zaptel 0.50) says:
#define MASTERVAL 0x41 /* Enable E1 master clock on Rev. B board */
Does that mean that there is a torisa revB? If so, are the schematics
downloadable from somewhere? (www.zapatatelephony.org only has Rev. A
ones)
Does the Rev. A support E1? (just changing the DS2151 for DS2153, the DS
crystal and closing the E1 jumpers, or something else is

Zapata Tormenta 2
I have an old zapata tormenta 2 quad port pci card. I'd like to get it
working and play with it but was curious to see if that was possible.
Does anyone know if it will work for 2.6 kernels, or where I can find
decent drivers? I tried getting the tor driver from http://www.zapatatelephony.org/linux-zapata-current/
installed, but didn't get very far. Any input is appreciated.

FRS / FRS/GMRS 2-way radios as SIP clients
Any one know of software that allows 2-way radios as VoIP(SIP) clients,
besides dingotel's usb & mic cable trick ?
http://www.dingotel.com/2way/requirements2way.asp
They might be ok if the SIP client was not hardcode to their own SIP proxy
Has anyone tried any hacks to get the 2-way radio SIP client to regsiter to
a * box.
hmm chan_frsgmfrs anyone? using the usb/mic cable under linux :)

GSM / Radio
Hi there,
I was looking for a GSM gateway, but I didn't find any prices...
Anybody knows how much one of these costs?
And, is it possible to use an amateur radio with asterisk?
Thanks,
Marconi.

Free/Open pci telco card
Hi List,
While I was surfing the net last week,
I found a link for "open source" pci telco cards.
I'm not sure if it were isdn or analog related.
The layout an all the stuff was free downloadable, so that you can build
your own cards.
Does anybody have the link?
Yes, I know there is google, but i searched for over an hour, but can't
find anything.
maybe i use the wrong

Morse Code
This is just curiosity, but I'm wondering why the Morsecode app has remained part of the trunk for all of these years. Is there any practical use for this or is it just an homage to the ghosts of telecommunications past? Does anybody use the Morsecode app for anything interesting? I'm strangely fascinated by this core piece of Asterisk functionality.

Re: FRS and GMRS via *
You don't need to reinvent anything to tie radios to *. Ham systems like
IRLP, Echolink, eqso etc all have fairly tight controls to keep from
being abused (although with a little Linux knowledge, the IRLP package
can easily be used to set up your own network using their protocol). Jim
Dixon seems to have done the work to integrate radios with * already.

RF to IP bridge
I wanted to see if there was anything reasonable in price out there yet that
performed an RF to IP bridge via asterisk. What I mean by this is callers
from PSTN can be patched to a UHF/VHF radio and vis-?-vis. I know there is
an option available for the Avaya systems but it?s a little out of the price
range I?m looking for (~$200/channel). Has anyone out there found a stable
way to do this?

SS7 E1 cards
Hi,
I'm looking into support for SS7 and I found an article
(http://www.openss7.com/news13022002.html) which says that OpenSS7
supports Linux Support Inc's T400P-SS7 Quad T1 and E400P-SS7 Quad E1 PCI
interface cards. It also says that Linux Support Inc is the primary
sponsor of Asterisk. However I cannot find these cards on the Asterisk
hardware page

CE certification for Europe
Hello,
I'd like to ask if there are any news about CE certification of the E1
boards. I know that the T1 boards are FCC certified but I'd also like to
know what is the status for CE certification.
Thanks for any input,
Vlasis Hatzistavrou.

How to decrease Asterisk load
Hi everybody,
I would like to decrease the load of my asterisk server. Could someone
recommend me a solution? I have thought about a hardware component that
would do some tasks as compression/decompression or codec translations but
wonder if such a solution exist.
Thanks for any suggestion

Zaptel 'Under the Hood' Project
Hello,
After poking and prodding at Asterisk and Zaptel for over a couple years
now, I've dedicated some time to actually reading the code and trying to
figure it out.
It's been fascinating. With the driver source on one part of the screen
and a pdf of "Linux Device Drivers" on another part I've aquainted
myself with device driver programming and the interesting

Configuring TDM400 in Australia
Hi, all
I have installed TDM400 with 1 FXS and 1 FXP ports.
Now I am goig through documentation on how to configure it.
It mentions 3 protocols: Loopstart, Groundstart and Koolstart. Which one do
I use?
Can someone send me sample zaptel.conf file for Australia? This will save me
some time and will be used as a working example.
Thanks,
Rudolf
