networking issues - internet facing guest interfaces
I have the following networking setup:
- eth0 and eth1 corresponding to the physical ports on the host NIC
- bond0 which enslaves eth0 + eth1
- br0 which attaches bond0
- xenbr0 - xenbr5 all of which are internal only networks (10.0.0.0;
10.1.1.0; etc)
Br0 is used both for the host to access the outside world as well as DomUs
acting as gateway machines for each xenbr network. For example the DomU
named Gateway0 will have eth0 attached to br0 giving it connectivity to th...

mac addresses on xenbr/vif
Hi,
does somebody know, if there is any documentation available on how to set
mac addresses on virtual bridges / virtual interfaces?
Keeping track of every mac in the particular segments is really impractical.
Thanks for any suggestions!

HELP: xenbr on vlan if --> tcp checksum error
Hi
I''m testing around with xen 3.0 snapshot from last week. And i''m now having a problem with a xenbr which is based on a vlan if (dot1q).
this is all in dom0
os: debian testing
network: tg3
I can start the bridge based on my normal physical eth0 which is working without any problems.
My clan without bridge is also working.
I can start the bridge based on a vlan if with help of the following com...

Number of xenbr''s limited to four on openSuSE 10.2 ?
...ever I could "google" on this
topic, I didn`t find any
solution:
openSuSE 10.2 (out
of the box), xenkernel, running on HP Proliant DL360G5
(dual
internal networking, plus additional 4-port adapter) gives me eth0 -
eth5, but only peth0 - peth3 (as well as vif0 - vif3 and consequentely
xenbr0 - xenbr3).
I increased the number of
loopback-devices to 64 ... no result
Whenever I try to
"/etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge start vifnum=4" I get a
message regarding to a "nonexisting veth4" ...
What am I missing
Thanks for your time

Xen bridge no longer working
Hello everybody,
Here again with a Xenbr0 bridge problem
I''m a Gentoo user, xen-sources-2.6.34 and I always used the bridge from eth0
to xenbr0.
Here''s what I get at boot time:
* Bringing up interface eth0
* null
[...]
* Starting Xen control daemon ...
And the bridge doesn''t come up.
The normal behaviour s...

[PATCH] safer checks in network-bridge script
The network-bridge script is fragile because of how grep is used. As
one example, if I already have "xenbridge", I can''t create "xenbr".
(It''s actually worse than that, because it''s even grepping the header
output by brctl show.)
Assuming dom0 is on Linux with /sys mounted (is that a safe
assumption?) we can check for the existence of a bridge, and check if a...

eth0 - public (routable and registered in DNS)
eth1 - private (not routable, uses a seperate network subnet for

eth2 - RAC (routable and registered in DNS)
Right now, all of the guest OS nics are being connected to eth0 of the
physical host, using xenbr0. I know that an entry needs to be made in
/etc/xen/vm/xen-host-name config file that looks like;
vif = [ ''mac=00:16:3e:66:99:23, bridge=xenbr0'',
''mac=00:16:3f:66:93:3d, bridge=xenbr1'' ]

HVM Network Interfaces
Hi Everyone,
In my HVM guest''s config file, I have given my guest 3 interface. I have
called them fw1, fw2 and fw3. I have joined each interface to a bridge
on the Dom0. This does appear when I do a "brctl show". However, there
are 3 other interfaces also added called tapx.0,tapx.1 and tapx.2 (Where
x is the domain ID for the guest). Furthermore, I am only able to run

Does xen bridging support vlan tagged packets
arriving on the physical nic from outside of the xen host to be passed
through with the
vlan tag to the vif of the guest with the guest VM receiving the tagged
packet ?
We have a xenbr configured with two interfaces - eth3 (physical nic of
the host),
vif23.2 (vif of guest VM running in domain 23). Sniffing the packet just
outside the
physical NIC does show that it has the vlan tag, but tcpdump on eth3
shows that
the vlan tag has been stripped. Any ideas pls ?

DHCP for Xen VMs
I created my first Xen VM that didn't use a static IP address. It grabs an
IP from the 198.168.122.0 subnet (from I don't know where). I would rather
want it to use my DHCP server. How can I achieve this?

No new xen packages in sid?
...I see links here:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/linux-2.6.html
But they don't work, e.g:
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=linux-modules-2.6.26-1-xen-amd64
I uploaded the amd64-packages to my site:
http://www.vandervlis.nl/xen/
They are working for me (I have only problems with the xenbr devices).
I don't know it's possible to get them in Etch. But for that case we
need to test them, I think.
With regards,
Paul van der Vlis.
