Problem joing a W2KSP1 client to a Samba PDC (2.2.5).
Hi, I'am running a small samba server at work with 10+ users in the domain (all of them added with W2KSP1 and 2.2.3 or 2.2.4). I uppgraded to 2.2.5 a while back and has not experienced any problem with it, but when I try to add a newly installed W2KSP1 client to the domain I get the following entries in the log file: Sep 10 13:29:55 linus smbd[17681]: [2002/09/10 13:29:55, 0]

Windows XP SP2 (Official) and Samba 3
I've looked through the archives and the only information I can find regarding Windows XP SP2 is RC2. Has anyone out there had ANY experience with XP SP2 Official and a Samba 3 domain? -- Bert Rapp North Trail RV Center p 239.693.8200 f 239.693.8115

WinXP. Samba and Router connection problem
Hi, I have samba-2.2.8 installed on Slackware 9.0. I'm able to use smbclient from this linux machine to access all the services defined in smb.conf. I installed the WinXP_SignOrSeal.reg patch to my WinXP Pro machine. When I attempt to access samba services from the WinXP PC, it fails: c:> net use L: \\MYLINUX\tmp System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found. I have both the WinXP Pro machine and the Linux machine connected to a LinkSys Router, which is...

samba as PDC in FreeBSD
Hello all, I've set up samba as a PDC in FreeBSD 5.1-release. I seemed to have no problems joining my computer to the domain as it said "Welcome to the domain" but when I try and log in it says it can't contact the domain controller or the domain account doesn't exist. Can anyone offer any help on how to fix this? Here is my smb.conf. Kind regards, Elvar [global]

Samba and WindowsXP
...stead of getting the actual printout, I get the PostScript source code, pages and pages of it. The printer is an HP LaserJet4ML/PS, so it's PS capable. Under UNIX, it's set up as a PS printer on the print server. I've already read the documentation under docs/Registry and applied the WinXP_SignOrSeal.reg. UNIX clients (IRIX, RedHat, HP-UX) print to it without any problems. Problem #2: I can not map a network drive on an IRIX 6.5.17f box, even though I can see the share. I log in under XP with the identical login as I would under IRIX. When I try to map the drive, I even pick "Connect u...

Dispelling Myths About Samba Encrypted passwords, NT_STATUS_LOGON _FAILURE and XP
...r mean? (What's it caused by?) And how can I fix it? * Does definition of WorkGroups change across different Windows versions? * Lastly, is there any tricks involved in getting samba to work with Windows XP? I want it so it uses the unix user authentication if possible. I've loaded the WinXP_SignOrSeal.reg patch on XP. I also loaded the Win2000_PlainPassword.reg in the hope I could access my shares from my XP box. It is in the samba sources under ~/docs/Registry/WinXP_SignOrSeal.reg So in summary: Things to check: 1. In smb.conf [globals] encrypted passwords = Yes security = user 2. Make sure you have create the machine account: Logged in as root: useradd -d /dev/null -s /bin/false -m 'machine_name'\$ Note the escaped '$' - that is needed. passwd...

Samba 3.0.0 PDC, XP SP1, and domain joining woes.
Greetings, you kind and wonderful people. I've spent the past few hours or so (read: all day) attempting to get a basic PDC up and running, with no success. I've even gone to the extent of copying John Herpstra's config, which contains all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff, in the hope that he had something I missed. He didn't. I've got one box running debian testing, with

Windows server parameter equivalent to “server schannel = no”
Hi, We have successfully upgraded from samba 4.4.3 to samba 4.9.13 as AD controller with your very helpfully advice. When we finished the upgrade process, and with all servers fully working, including printer and shares servers, we did have to add the ?server schannel = no? parameter to smb.conf because of a EMC Unity NAS that was giving secure channel error on user validation. After that change

Having problems connecting xp machine to samba
...e read messages regarding "Locate the entry "Domain member: ...". Furthermore, I've read that sometimes you don't need to follow those commands and simply need to add a registry patch. In my case, I was not able to find the entry "Domain member" and simply added the WinXP_SignOrSeal registry patch. That may or may not cause a problem. However, I didn't know what to do considering the entry I was supposed to find was not listed. Any help that someone could give me regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Note that I'm attaching my smb.conf...

Windows XP with Samba Ldap.
My Ldap Admin password is correct in secrets.tdb and I can logon in Win 9x, but not in Win XP. The option "RequireSignOrSeal"= dword:00000000 is ok. The WinXP can found the Samba Domain, but not the user/password. When I logon in Network place the password is correct and I can view the user files. Any ideas why I cannot logon in Win XP ? Thank's. Windows XP, samba 2.2.7a; delayed write failure

No change in behaviour with/without this hack, but I guess that this has to do with domain logon behaviour. - some relevant global options: domain master = yes preferred master = yes domain logons = yes wins support = yes - The windows XP client has n...
