Script to convert mboxes to maildirs?
Does anybody know of a script of a simple method of converting mbox mail stores to maildirs? I'm moving from an old pop3 system to imap and after installing about half our office with mboxes have found that mbox does not support subfolders which some people like to use. Is there any simple way of converting? I can go to each individual account and "manually" convert swaping data

1.0.beta6 released
Fixes, mostly: * The login and master usernames were reversed when using master_user_separator (now the order is UW-IMAP compatible). * Killing dovecot master process now kills all IMAP and POP3 processes also. + -a parameter to dovecot prints now all settings that Dovecot uses. -n prints all settings that are different from defaults. + Added pop3_lock_session setting + %M modifier

T.38 on a MAX/Lucent/Ascend TNT
Hello folks, I've been trying to get T.38 over SIP working with calls terminated by a MAX/Lucent/Ascent TNT. As far as I can tell, SIP and T.38 are actually working perfectly; however, I can't get the TNT to properly terminate a FAX call. Does anyone have a working configuration for SIP and T.38 for calls from a TNT or APX? Here's a brief description/diagram of my test setup:

my_strncasecmp ignores max_chars

dovecot.conf pop3_uidl_format
From the Dovecot 1.0.1 sample dovecot.conf file: # If you want UIDL compatibility with other POP3 servers, use: # UW's ipop3d : %08Xv%08Xu ... # Note that Outlook 2003 seems to have problems with %v.%u format which was # Dovecot's default, so if you're building a new server it would be a good # idea to change this. %08Xu%08Xv should be pretty fail-safe. #

[patch] MD5 variable modifier
Hello, I've taken a different (better) approach to getting tpop3d-compatible UIDLs: the first attached patch (...md5_modifier.diff) adds a variable expansion modifier (%M) to return the md5sum of the expanded variable in hex. With the patch, you can get tpop3d-compatible UIDLs by setting pop3_uidl_format to %Mf. While testing interactions with other modifiers (e.g. %MUf to get the md5sum in

Am I nuts to attempt a VFS local cache module?
Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this question. I'm thinking of writing a module that intercepts Samba requests to keep only a subset of a file store on a local server with the rest being stored on a cloud.  It would be an open source module similar to these products: https://aws.amazon.com/storagegateway/

Modified Cups Backed pdf writer to keep the original document name.
Hi All, I've got a samba/cups pdf writer going thanks to PeteFwee and Wolfram Q and a few others... the cups pdf backed i used has a default of username-date.pdf which I didn't like and wanted the name of the job that got send in the printer q on the winslows client. The only way I could see in my very limited experience was to grab the %%Title out of the postscript file and make sure that it didn't have any bad characters. I also did a few extra lines to send the .pdf to the person that sent it (thankfully that was already passed though). Here i...

Renames across namespaces
Will Dovecot ever support renames across namespaces? I'm attempting to support mailboxes under "INBOX" for compatibility with Courier, which I'm trying to replace, while also supporting mailboxes with no prefix. I don't want to confuse new users (who aren't already subscribed to their mailboxes with the INBOX prefix) by listing the entire tree twice (parented at the

OT: Run Sieve On A Mailbox Manually
(Apologies for being offtopic.) The subject basically says it all...does anyone know of a tool to run a sieve script on a mailbox (in particular, Maildirs) manually? Ideally, I'd like to do it without adding a bunch of new headers to the mail. So, could I just do a find (or for-loop, if it was just one maildir) command and pipe all the mails into deliver..? Thanks, Neil.

The "capcha" on wiki.dovecot.org seems to be double-escaping HTML entities in the informational message, such that the wiki displays "Captcha to prevent wiki spam, write <strong>Dovecot</strong> here:" [sic.] When I dutifully entered "<strong>Dovecot</strong>," it didn't work, saying "<span class="error">You didn't

[patch] support tpop3d-style UIDLs
Hello, I've attached a patch that adds an additional expando to pop3_uidl_format. The additional expando (%M) expands to the md5sum of the filename (which is already available via %f.) This UIDL style is compatible with tpop3d when using Maildir. The patch is against dovecot 1.0 beta3, and I'd love to see it be merged into the official tree. Comments welcome. -- Ben Winslow

Setting a Default Domain
I'm working on migrating to Dovecot. At the moment, I have a mail path that includes the domain, so I'm using %d to get that. However, if users authenticate without specifying a domain (i.e. using "bob" instead of "bob at wiktel.com"), then %d expands to nothing. I'd like to have that expand to a default domain (wiktel.com) instead. Is that possible? Thanks,

Client workaround?
I have a phone (LG CU320) with a built-in IMAP client. However, it has some issues. For one, the phone crashes if there are greater than some-as-of-yet-determined-number-of folders. That can't be worked around at the server, but this one can: After a long session of staring at tcpdump, it appears that when it logs in it does so like this: a001 LOGIN "username" myPassword
