(a) WinPower RPM available? (b) where to install if use tar.gz file?
Two quick and simple questions; I want to install the "WinPower" software for my new UPS. On their web site, they have a tar.gz file available for download. I know the reasons for staying with RPM, if at all possible. I''ve Googled and Yahood for ""WinPower"+RPM+Linux and get hits, but no obvious RPM. I tried "yum install winpow...

blazer_usb: compatibility with Ippon BackPro UPSes (Phoenix Power Co., Ltd usb-to-serial controller)
...on the model this UPSes have got either one standard serial RS-232C interface (cheaper models like Ippon BackPro 400 and Ippon BackPro 600/700 that were manufactured back in about year 2005 or earlier) or dual-port control interface: one serial and one USB. Ippon UPSes are by default shipped with Winpower java-based monitoring and controlling solution which is said to be compatible with windows of any kind, MacOS X and Linux. On workstations I used to use this software and it proved to work quiet reliable under Windows XP while still require some additional configuration to power the workstations do...

Some issues with UPS Forza SL-1001
...had a TrippLite Omni 500 (or something like that), a simple contact-closure UPS, and I used nut with the simple genericupsdriver, so I'm new with this type of UPSs. NUT doesn't list Forza as a supported UPS so I first tried to use the "marvelous software" inside, the infamous WinPower. As their name states, only works well in Windows, because in Linux it only recognizes RS232-based UPS, but this SL-1001 is detected as a HID device. Google brings me to this mail list and I tested using the megatec_usb driver, following recomendations from a mail here. The driver works perf...

driver for my ups
Hello everyone. I have a "Forza Power Technologies" UPS, model sl-501. the software i've been used to manage it is Winpower v.2.2.0.1. It works on windows but not linux. There is a version for this app for linux, but once installed, it doesn't detect the ups (the connection is via usb). My question is if there is a driver useful for this hardware. I've bee reading that maybe testing those from "genericu...

AsiumPower Asium P700 UPS
Looking for some help with this UPS. ?I am running Debian Jessie 8.1 (32 bit). ?I live inCosta Rica so UPS purchase options, in my price range, are fairly slim. ?I purchased thereferenced UPS, which works with WinPower software, but am really hesitant to installWinPower as I don't know how it might affect things and don't want to break the system. When I was still running Wheezy, I installed NUT and went through the set up process,?selecting the usbhid-ups driver. When I executed ? upsdrvctl start ?I got...

Need help identifying UPS for use with NUT
Hi there. I bought a generic UPS from a local (South African) hardware company, Sahara. They call it an "Electra 1000 Plus". From what I am told it is a 1000 VA line interactive UPS. It comes with "WinPower" Java based software that I couldn't get to work. (Crashes on start-up, without any explanation.) I would like to know if any one on this mailing list could help me to figure out what NUT driver I am supposed to use. I tried megatec, without success. (/lib/nut/megatec -DDDD -a UPS1 retur...

nut with Belkin "Active Battery Backup" UPS (BU30 series)
Hi, I bought a Belkin Active Battery Backup UPS (http://www.belkin.com/uk/activebattery/) yesterday with a USB port and hoped it would work with nut. The device will show up in /proc/bus/usb/devices as a Cypress Semiconductor USB to Serial. It creates /dev/hiddev0 (and this disappears when the UPS is unplugged). I've tried using belkin, belkinunv, usbhid-ups and megatec_usb. I've tried

...ers but none worked. Some more information about the ups: I connect it with a usb cable (but it also has a serial port) which is seen as a usb to serial converter: USB HID v1.00 Gamepad [Cypress Semiconductor USB to Serial] on usb-0000:00:02.0-2 and can be accessed on /dev/ttyS1 It cames with WinPower software (which i tried on a windows machine) and it can display ups status, battery charge and load connected, so it should not be a simple contact closure ups. Now the question is: is there a way to find out which driver should I use? Or should I simply try them all untill i find the right one...

Upsonic PrOffice 650 usb/serial
Hi, I recently installed a Upsonic PrOffice 650 UPS, which is a cheap model[1] available in Australia. It has a serial and USB port, and comes with a note saying WinPower software can be downloaded from [2]. Investigation of the software shows it to be Java with native libraries for serial and USB. Disassembling various classes reveals it talks at 2400 baud, and has a protocol similar to Megatec [3]. I tested this by connecting with minicom to the UPS, and got a...

Totally beyond me
...failed to start (exit status=1) > [CODE] > > Is this because there is no specific driver for my UPS ? I am totally perplexed. No, it says that the HID driver did not match your UPS. The list archives mention that the blazer_usb (and now nutdrv-qx) drivers work with some models that use WinPower, but this is not guaranteed (WinPower may have been extended since then). What does "lsusb" show? > John > > "Science is organized common sense. Philosophy is organized piffle" > -attributed to Bertrand Russel > > From: Charles Lepple <clepple at gmail...

Maruson power net 1500 support?
I recently took over maintenance of a linux computer which is drawing power from a "Maruson Power Net 1500" UPS. However, there is currently no monitoring or control of the UPS by this (or any other) computer. Can nut control this device? There are serial, usb, and EPO connectors on the back of the unit. (There may be a manual but I'm going to have to hunt for it.) Thanks, David

Totally beyond me
As an update to my first message, sent July 13, I am totally out of my league.I installed nut (apt-get install nut) on Debian Jessie. ?Went through the process of modifying?ups.conf and copied the udev ( cp /lib/udev/rules.d/52-nut-usbups.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/ ) When I ran ?upsdrvctl start ?I got a message about the usbhid-ups driver. ?It appears that NUTis not configured with the driver. ?The
