(Off Topic, a litle) WinFrame/WinCenter, other Multi-User NT
I'm looking for experiences with the various Multi-User NT products with SAMBA, and in general. My intent is to set up a single Multi-User NT box as a shared email/productivity program environment for my six full time UNIX users. My environment is such that I'll be using Outlook 97 to talk to MS Exchange 5.5 servers, and running MS Office Pro 97 (among other) tools from SGI 6.4

observations on nt smb support = no
We use Samba 2.0.6 as server, the clients are about 10 NCD WinCenter (NT 3.51 multiuser, WinCenter 3.0.34 based on Citrix WinFrame 1.6) machines with about 70 concurrent users each and several WinCenter (as above) and NT Terminal Server (NT 4.0 multiuser with MetaFrame/WinCenter (X11 addon)) machines. The 2.0.6 smb.conf manpage says: nt smb support (G) This boolean parameter controls whether smbd wil...

Linux can't telnet to WFW 3.11
My server is RH 5.2 and i use Samba 1.9.18p10 and the client use WFW 3.11 with tcp/ip protocols installed. The subnet and the IP Address is right but I still only telnet form WFW 3.11 to Linux...not the reverse. On Linux telnet is working. I've checked it through this cmdline "telnet localhost 23 or telnet 127.0.0.1" . And I also testparm smb.conf and nothing wrong happen. FYI I set

Citrix, Samba PDC experiences.
Hi all, I've dug through the lists and google, but haven't found very much info on using Citrix with a samba PDC. The small number of messages and information I've found, lead me to believe it will work. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge they'd be willing to share? I'm currently involved in rolling out Citrix for proprietary windows apps for remote offices.

Canceling jobs
...39;s shown below: lpq command = /usr/bin/lpstat %p But if any one submits a job to any printer and, after that, tryies to view the queue double clicking in the printer's icon, the queue is empty :-? The job is visible from the Unixes boxes, but not from the Windows '95 or Windows NT (Winframe) boxes. problems with samba 1.9.18p8
I recently installed samba 1.9.18p8. Since then, we get the following error: "No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network resources." after the server has been running for >48 hours. If I stop and restart the server, everything is ok again. Our samba server is a Sun Ultra 2170 running Solaris 2.5.1. Any help will

Process per share control.
A long time ago, and I could be mistaken, I thought samba could be configured so that instead of a smbd process per user/machine it would spawn a process per share/user/machine. If it still can, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Weldon Godfrey Sr. Systems Specialist Science Applications International Corporation

NT3.51 slow file access
...s 95 machines. We currently run samba v1.9.18p10 on one of the unix machines to share user's home directories, and a common directory for projects (/doc). Our Win95 machines work fine when it comes to accessing the unix machine's data. We recently added an NT 3.51 machine (running Citrix WinFrame, fyi) to the network. Using the File Manager, we added two network drives: A for the home directory, and B for doc. When users log in, they map to their home directories properly, they can browse normally. The same goes for the doc directory. However, when a user attempts to load or save a f...

distribute/deploy software to clients
Hello, I run a Windows domain based on Samba 3 and I am searching for a way to distribute/deploy software to clients. I.e., a user logging on to a client, software should be automatically installed or upgraded. Is there any common solution? I heard of MSI packages, but I don't know if it is necessary to create MSI packages of all installations... Thanks Florian

cross-subnet browsing
I have 2 subnets. Subnet 1 has an NT WINS server. Subnet 2 has a Samba server acting as domain master browser and local master browser for a workgroup. If I view the network neighborhood from a Win 95 PC on Subnet 1 (call it PC_A), I can see all the hosts in the workgroup on both subnets. If I view the network neighborhood from a Win 95 PC on Subnet 2 (call it PC_B), I cannot see PC_A. I

SV: Samba-Citrix compatability
I have searched for some FAQ/HOWTO regarding Citrix/Metaframe to no avail. (Like this one http://samba.org/~jht/HOWTO/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf ) What I would like to see in such a FAQ/HOWTO: - Compilation issues regarding Citrix/metaframe - - ie the need to increase the MAX_CONNECTION setting before compilation - - ie how to compile samba to a 64 bit application to get more available file
