Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spooler
I have encountered a strange printing problem with Samba 2.2.4 running under
HP-UX 11i.
In the process of investigating a printing problem, I have found that Samba
has stopped passing jobs along to the UNIX lp spooler as of yesterday
afternoon.
When NT/W2K clients print to printers on my server, the jobs are accepted,
Samba
spool files are created in the spool directory defined for the printer

Help, problems with permissions
Hi
I am replacing my current mail system, using Exim/Postgres/WU-IMAP to
another host using Dovecot.
Everything has gone well, until I have tried to access some test mails
via POP.
The error message I am getting is

Plain Authentication - Outlook not working
Hi
I have just upgraded a mail server from dovecot-0.99 to stable
(dovecot-1.0.59).
My normal desktop email client, kmail is working fine, but outlook keeps
producing PLAIN authentication errors, and refusing to authenticate.
From dovecot.log, I can see
dovecot: Mar 13 10:57:30 Error: auth(default): sql(<xxxxxxxMy

FW: Strange locking errors with LabView under Samba 2.2.7 and HP-UX 11.11
I've had the chance to give 2.2.7a a try, with no change in behavior.
LabView still takes several minutes to load, and disk utilization shoots way
up.
Just to see what would happen, I tried Samba 2.2.5 and got the same results.
I then dropped back to 2.2.4, and everything works fine. LabView loads in
about 12 seconds, disk utilization stays low during the load, no locking

nmbd causing very high CPU utilization
Does anyone have any idea what can cause nmbd to begin gobbling CPU?
We are running Samba 2.2.4 on HP-UX 10.20, having upgraded from Samba
2.0.10 about a month ago. Our clients are a mixture of NT 4.0 and Win2K.
Today, we have begun to see widespread client drive disconnections, and
nmbd is averaging 60%+ CPU usage with peaks up to 100%. We have heard
reports of network problems at our site

FIXED - Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spool er
OK, it's working now. I waited until the production lines
were undergoing a shift change and brought down all of Samba,
then restarted it. Printing now works just fine. I still
don't know what caused the problem, I never saw any error
messages in the [sn]mbd or client logs, even with the log
level turned turned up to 2.
Thanks very much for the time and trouble you took to think

Strange locking errors with LabView under Samba 2.2.7 and HP-UX 1 1.11
Hello All,
I recently upgraded one of my HP-UX servers from Samba 2.2.4 to 2.2.7.
Since that time, I have noticed that disk activity on the file system where
the Samba var directory is kept seems to be higher than I would expect. We
have now begun to experience a problem with PC clients running National
Instruments' LabView software, installed on a Samba share. When any PC
client tries to

FYI - pci_mmcfg_init kernel error after upgrading to 5.6
Just thought I'd pass along an error I received this weekend after
upgrading two servers to 5.6. Both are HP Proliant DL380 servers
running 64-bit, but one is a G6 model and one is a G7. After the
upgrade and the reboot to the 2.6.18-238.9.1.el5 kernel, both servers
displayed the following error at boot:
"pci_mmcfg_init marking 256MB space uncacheable."

Kernel Panic on HP/Compaq ProLiant G7
Hello Everyone,
I recently installed CentOS 5.5 x86_64 on a brand new ProLiant DL380 G7. I have identical OS software running reock-solid on two other DL380 ProLiant servers, but they are G6 models, not G7. On the G7, the installation went perfectly and the machine ran great for about 2 weeks, when it just seemed to "stop". The system stopped responding on the network, and there was

rsyslog.conf
I was looking at the manpage for rsyslog.conf, primarily because I need to
filter my manager's new fedora 22 logs coming to our loghost, because of
the bug that I forwarded (if it gets through).
At any rate, I am surprised: under selectors, I see that " The keywords
error, warn and panic are deprecated and should not be used anymore."
Huh?
If I only want warn or more severe,

causing LMB elections
I've been running samba servers with 200+ W98 machines for
some time. I'm changing to W2k and everything was going fine.
I've upgraded 40 boxes. One W2k box has started announcing itself
as a local master browser for one of the workgroups. A samba
server thinks it is master, forcing election. Samba will stop
being the LMB for about 3 minutes and then will re-establish
itself as

[Trivia question] What engine is it on DTrace T-shirt ?
Hi,
This is not a DTrace technical question (so, please don''t flame me for
it) :)
This is regarding the DTrace (un)conference TShirt.
I am curious to know what engine is it. Could not figure it out.
Thanks and regards,
Sanjeev.

Save a function existing library
Hello all,
I am fairly new to R and I have created a function that I use quit
frequently. I was wondering if there is away to save this function in
an existing library so I can call it by using the function name once the
library is loaded?
Thanks,
Doug

Problem after joining Windows domain: Will Samba support "fallback" to local domain for authentication of local users?
Will Samba support "fallback" to local domain for authentication of
local users?
I joined a RHEL4 server running Samba 3.0.10-1.4E.11 to a Windows
2000/2003 mixed-mode domain today using "security = domain", after
having run for many months in "security = user" mode. Authentication
works fine for users defined in the Windows domain, but we have a few

FW: Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spooler
I hate to follow up on my own post, but here's an additional
bit of info: I've tried changing the "print command" setting
in smb.conf to log the command and parameters when a job is
printed. However, no output is ever logged; it's acting as if
the print job is being spooled but the print command isn't
being executed. The print command I added is:
print command = echo
