MS Flight Simulator?
Anybody had any luck getting MS flight simulator running? I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 on Intel and got to missing the Winders flight simulators after someone just gave me FS-X. It starts to install fine until it asks for the second DVD, which it never sees. When I click the Retry button, it keeps coming back with "Insert Disk #2." Any ideas? I have my asterisk box on the public network. I have a winders box on the public network, running diax. I have a winders box, same setup, behind my Linux iptables firewall, on a private network. Both boxes cann register iax2 to asterisk, and dial, but as soon as asterisk tries to do the native bridge, the call fails. I've poked at this way too much today.....

Rid me of this boot GUI
One of these days, RedHat might actually run me off!!!! AAAARGH!!!! Can anyone tell me how to get CentOS 4 to simply boot to the console in text mode? If I wanted a stinkin' GUI I would have installed winders! Now, my KVM and 25 foot cord is just too long to send a GUI signal across the room and I'm missing 50% of the screen.. striped vertically.. at about 1/8th inch spacing. Not really good enough to see what I'm in nor what the crap I'm doing. I do see I guess an Xterm window.. so I g...

CentOS 5 and bittorrent
...9;m getting at here, is CentOS gives a LOT! If you have never considered doing your downloads via a torrent, please do consider this and try to give back at least the bandwidth you use. I'm sure the CentOS team will appreciate this more than you will ever know. Me? I'm downloading via a winders box and I use bit tornado which is extremely flexible in setting upload and download allowances as well as the number of connections. And it's free. I'm sure others use many of the other aps available.. just please consider using the torrent. Best, John Hinton

Extension status as XML for an Aastra 57i
I'm in the process of converting our current hybrid key system to Asterisk and Aastra 57i phones. One of the features that seems to be a show stopper for almost everyone in the office is the inability to see who is on the phone. Can someone point in the right direction to setup an XML app on the phone so they can press a soft-button and get a list of extensions and their statuses? I know I can

Samba issue
for some reason I cannot to my samba server on centos 4.5 with any other linux distro. I have tried pclinuxos, kubuntu, fc7. I have entered the correct credentials in the correct case to no avail. What's funny is my winders machines can connect just fine. no SD card with Wine
Hi group, I need to 'flash' an SD card to be used to boot a Tiny6410. The flash program (SD-flasher.exe) runs on Winder$. I don't have a Winder$ partition anymore, so I'm trying to run it under wine. It runs but can't see the SD card. The SD reader is incorporated into my laptop and is /dev/sdb. I am assuming SD-flasher is functionally the same as grub-install? Any ideas??

Solaris and zfs versions
We''ve been experimenting with zfs on OpenSolaris 2008.11. We created a pool in OpenSolaris and filled it with data. Then we wanted to move it to a production Solaris 10 machine (generic_137138_09) so I "zpool exported" in OpenSolaris, moved the storage, and "zpool imported" in Solaris 10. We got: Cannot import ''deadpool'': pool is formatted

Batch Process for wav->flac?
I have a hard disk full of live shows. Each show is in an individual folder (titled by name and date of show), and contains the individual wav files of the show, labeled "disc1track1, disc1track2, etc." It's the same naming scheme in each of the 200 or so folders for each show. I want to convert each audio file to flac - is there a way to do this all at once? I can't just

Is the X100P a WinModem?
...o I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun project. I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem. Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always despised them as a data communications device but the other uses of the cards do seem good. It would seem like this kind of board would be exactly what was needed to provide a FXO port, assuming it can do full duplex operations, whi...

Samba 2.4.2 as secondary DC to Windows 2008 R2
...eplication needs to be managed). I found it quite doable to setup the Samba 4.2.10 severs and let them join the Microsoft AD as DC. Running samba-tool drs showrepl on them, indicates no issues (except "Warning: No NC replicated for Connection!" Under KCC Connection Objects). However, the Winders 2008 R2 server throws "AD Replication error 8418" The replication operation failed because of a schema mismatch between the servers involved when replicating from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Samba. I use Microsoft Exchange 2010 (to be replaced as well). My smb.conf has dsdb:schema update a...
