Lwd ignored when printing on Windows
Dear R-help,
Has anyone notice the problem that, on Windows (NT and XP), when printing a
graph using the "File -> Print..." menu in the graphics window to print the
graph, that line width seemed to be ignored in the printed output? For
example, if I make a plot with plot(1:10, type="l", lwd=5), it looks right
on screen, but when printed out using the menu, it looks like

Red X and guest user message in logs
Hello,
I have a Debian Sarge machine running Samba 3.0.14a as PDC and file server.
Everything runs smoothly, except for a random problem: users (on
Win2000Pro clients) are often seeing a red cross on the main network
share, as if it was disconnected. This red X seems to come and go at random.
The red cross would not be a big issue itself, but it has an annoying
consequence: when it appears, Windows thinks the connection is down, so
if you save a file...

Connecting Suse9.2 to Samba shares in a windows network
...e to get some help here to rectify my problems. I apologize if this
is too far off topic for this list.
Here is the setup:
It is a basic workgroup network, no domain, with no PDC or anything of
that sort. Authentication for the shares is done simply by having a
macthing username/password on a win2000Pro workstation. The majority of
shares on the server have the SUID and SGID set to a certain user for
simplicity and to resolve the Microsoft Office file locking issues.
However, each user's My Documents directory is a server share that is
accessed automatically by way of the username used on the...

List seems to drop empty levels of factors when containing them
Greetings R community,
I am curious about the following behaviour: if I define a factor, and
then store a subset of it in a list, the stored version seems to drop
levels that were not included in the subset. E.g. ..

[[1]]
[1] 1 2
Levels: 1 2

Super EF2000 and wine
...Super EuroFighter 2000 working with wine?
I found a solution (and got to it before on my own also) but it doesn't
exactly work for me.
the command
wine PROGRAM/_SUPERW.EXE DID=. quick_flag=1 GUI
does start the game, but the problem is, I get a blank screen :\
I once had a problem like this in Win2000Pro, but after some
'compatibility settings' tuning I got it working, here I'm not sure how
to do it.
I tried double-buffered windows, a virtual desktop, different color
depth's and still nothing.
The windows does appear like it should (first the little one, then the
big one), the m...

Group mapping only working for initial group?
...;, who already had its own initial group "mdv", to
the new gpusers group:
# usermod -g mdv -G gpusers mdv
So the situation for mdv is the following:
# groups mdv
mdv : mdv gpusers
I finally added the GPPower domain group to the local "Power Users"
group on a domain client (Win2000Pro).
In this situation, when the user logs in on that client, he is NOT part
of the Power Users group.
Instead, if I change his initial group:
# usermod -g gpusers -G mdv mdv
# groups mdv
mdv : gpusers mdv
...then the user correctly appears to be part of the local Power Users
group on the domain...

AW: AW: duplex settings [ was Re: parsing fix for spoolss & s amba-2.2.5]
Hello Jerry
Of course, here the Details:
Samba2.2.6pre2 is running on a Sun Sparc Solaris 8 machine as standalone.
I am testing with an lj4050tn printer by using both postscript and PCL
drivers (HP drivers).
All the Driver download and Printer configuration (duplex,trays...) from a
Win2000Pro works no problem.
After the driver has been downloaded and the printer properties has
configured (with duplex unit and 3 trays), I go to the printer properties
via the Printers section in control panel on the windows2000 clients as
Administrator -> All the settings I applied to samba before ar...

Installation problem , Failure to register Com ActiveX
I am very new at using both Ubuntu and Wine. I have manage to get both up and running.
I am trying to install FreeAccounting in Wine. I am getting a failure to register Com ActiveX errors and also have getting some decompression errors.
This program works fine under win2000pro but I am interested in getting it to work on Ubuntu system. Is there something that I didn't do right?

Samba not working
I have similar problem. However, I have noticed that without applying the sp3 on either
NT4 workstation or Server. It seems to work fine. As soon as sp3 is applied the samba
does not work. Error loggin in occurs. I remove tcpip support on nt and reinstalled, there was
a conversion from winsock1.1 to winsock2.0. Also in the smb.conf there is a statement to
the effect NOTCPDELAY, that word

winbindd and ftp
Hello,
I setup samba2.2.2 with winbind. samba is a member of domain with
security=domain. Now both work well.
Since there is no user in /etc/passwd, and user information gets from PDC(a
win2000 server).
The question is: there is no /home/xxx directory too.(I don't want to make
it manually).
I can configure /etc/pam.d/login with :
session required /lib/security/pam_mkhomedir.
so when

get on the Win98 that the account has "expired" when trying to connect

Is there a workaround ?
Thanx so much,

P.S. I can print from another Win2000Pro client in the domain to the
first Win2000Pro client's
printer share.
