RFC: Shrink wrapping vs SplitCSR
Hi all,
We've seen several examples recently of performance opportunities on
POWER if we can improve the location of save/restore code for
callee-saved registers. Both Nemanja and myself have discussed this with
several people, and it seems that there are two possibilities for
improving this:
1. Extend shrink wrapping to make the analysis of callee-saved
registers more precise.

aufs uid gid problem
Hi all,
I'm using glusterfs in comination with aufs.
With aufs I mount a read-only directory from the local harddisk and a
writable directory from the glusterfs together.
It works fine, so far. The only problem occurs if I change a file insides a
directory of the read-only directory.
Aufs normal behavior is to create the directory structure for the changed
file in the writable directory and

When I do
smbclient -L -N prodwww

or even

I get an error message
Not enough '\' characters in service
I have tried to find this error message on the samba web site but I have not
been successful in finding an exact match. Does anyone know what it means
and how to fix it?
TIA

OSX file creation problems
I am running a REHL 4.3 server with samba RPMs:
3.0.10-1.4e.9
When an os X client connects to our samba server it can copy files from
the server an overwrite other files that already exist. However when it
comes time to create a file, it fails, where this process works
correctly from a windows system. In addition, I can go to where the
volume is mounted on the os X (10.3.7) machine and copy

using multiple cpu's - scaling in processing power
Hi All
In the past I have worked with parallel processing in R where a function F
is applied to the elements of a list L. The more cpu cores one has, the
faster the process will run. At the time of launching the process for (F,L)
I will have a certain fixed number of cpu's that I can use. I have tested
this approach and it works fine (i.e. package 'multicore' , using 'mapply'

Samba segs when serving files from a windows partition on OpenBSD-4.2
Hi,
Before I file a bug report, I just wanted to check that samba is capable
of serving files from a FAT32 partition. I have here an OpenBSD-4.2
i386 machine here with a second disk containting files that I will be
sharing via both NFS and samba. The NFS share work great, but samba seg
faults upon a windows client connecting. This occurs when using the
OpenBSD package, and also when built from

Samba and Nautilus

work properly with Samba, in my case using SuSE 9.0. It now works
properly. Based on my experience, I offer the following suggestions.
First, before trying to do anything complex, make certain that your
lmhosts and hosts files are configured properly. Be sure that all IP
addresses and host names the Linux side match

Help for Samba 3 and Win ADS
Hi there!
Just started to play around with Samba 3 (on debian 3.0) and a win2000
domain. Can anyone help me to integrate the Samba server into the win
domain? It should act as a file server for the useres and groups from win
and therefor I need different rights and permissions for the shares...
Any help is appreciated ;-)
