Problem with writeBin and importing into gfortran compiled programs
Hi all, I'm having problems trying to export binary arrays from R and importing them into fortran (linux openSUSE 10.3 (x86_64), gfortran compiler, fortran 90/95 program). Let's say the problem can be expressed as: R part ------------ >whini <- runif(1000) >writeBin(whini,"fwhini.dat") f90 part ------------ PROGRAM foo INTEGER, PARAMETER :: DP = KIND(1.0D0) INTEGER :: status REAL(DP), DIMENSION(10,100) :: whini OPEN(UNIT=5, FILE='fwhini.dat', STATUS='OLD', ACTION='READ', & FORM='UNF...

Paperclip not executing FFMPEG properly
Im using a customs processor to run ffmpeg on a video to create a thumbnail. So far so good. Except when I do: cmd = "-i #{@file.path} -f flv -s 320x240 ~/Downloads/foobar/q.flv" success = Paperclip.run(''ffmpeg'', cmd) Console is reporting: ffmpeg ''-i /var/folders/uL/uL0bYOOZEZaJH5E+BmDJVE+++TI/-Tmp-/stream, 16824,1.mpeg -f flv -s 320x240

including the original message in replies
Hi, I don''t know how most of you get these messages, but I get the digest version. It seems that most people, when replying to a message, include all the previous messages in their reply. This means that when I read the digest version, I need to scroll through several pages of old emails to find the new ones. It doesn''t make sense (to me) to be resend these old messages over and

Re: Contact the CentOS WebMaster (was FlameFest Firewall Doc stuff)
God help me I know I said let it die, but it was continued elsewhere also. I'll try to keep this forest fire in ONE location. summary.default rounding on numeric seems inconsistent with other R behaviors
I was wondering if it would make sense to change the default behavior of the following: summary(15555L) ## Min. 1st Qu. Median Mean 3rd Qu. Max. ## 15560 15560 15560 15560 15560 15560 summary.default on numeric values rounds values (not just presentation) to getOption("digits")-3L (or four) digits by default, making those values surprising and less suitable for

uh... fixtures?
RSpec-ers: I''m aware this is quite the FAQ. I have probably asked it myself, but I just can''t Google up anything but others asking it. I grabbed the source to Beast, to use as a Rails project uninfluenced by me, or RSpec. Then I installed the CURRENT version of RSpec and rspec_on_rails, and set up a model spec on Post. Here''s the spec_helper.rb lines:

[LLVMdev] Buildbot now up and new build failures
No :) I'm trying to start by having something that keeps people from breaking the build and tests (by letting them submit patches and being whiny 3 minutes after something breaks). Once that is done, we can move to something that keeps all the languages in good shape. I think if i simply made it do everything at once, people would just ignore it. At least, that's my experience :)

rant on browser makers (was something about updating TD''s)
> Oh is Gecko == Mozilla? Oh well, can''t keep them straight. As far as I''m > concerned there are only 2 browsers worth developing for, IE6 and FF > > 1.07. Remove IE 6 and I agree, hahahaha. Actually, I hate Mozilla''s box model (I know it''s the w3c recommended one, but it''s flawed. Width and height should include padding and borders.

Sins of a Solar Empire Drops sound
While Playing Sins of a Solar Empire I have noticed that the sounds drops and the game loses sound. I can see no console messages that relate to sound ( all opengl commands) and there is no real pattern to lose of sound or timing. I can play a game for 3-4 hours without losing sound, sometimes only 10 minutes and sometime its at the main menu. This can get really annoying as there is no way to

Overloading #initialize in a model
I''m using WhinyProtectedAttributes: http://henrik.nyh.se/2007/10/whiny-protected-attributes Say I have this model: class Person < ActiveRecord::Base attribute_accessible :name end If I then create a Person with an invalid attribute, an exception is raised. CentOS 4.7 Server CD - update frontpage
Perhaps with the release of the CentOS 4.7 Server CD the frontpage at www.centos.org could be updated to reflect this new development rather than 4.4? Here is the announcement for those who missed it http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2008-October/015328.html Spike. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? About two weeks ago i was whining about an inode that got lost, now i'm going to whine more about strange things happening here. A matroxfb just oopsed on me (thats not strange), the machine got unusuable, so i logged in from another and got the idea to touch /forcefsck. Upon reboot, fsck said that some inodes are in use but...

summary.default rounding on numeric seems inconsistent with other R behaviors
John, I had raised the matter ten years ago, and I was told that the topic was already very^3 old https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2006-September/042684.html there is some discussion on its origin and also a declaration of intents to change the default behaviour, which, unfortunately, remained a declaration. I agree that R could do better here, let's hope in less than ten years

[LLVMdev] Buildbot now up and new build failures
That's cool. And I agree that it if didn't work, people would ignore it. :-) At the moment, we have only Duncan and a couple of Fortran guys to tell us when an Apple merge has broken something. I'm sure that they would welcome an early detection system. :-) -bw On Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 1:40 PM, Daniel Berlin <dberlin at dberlin.org> wrote: > No :) > > I'm trying to

Why should I answer a Newbie question, there thick!
It would be nice just for once to actually use a mailing list with people who are a little more sympathetic to the fact that your not a rocket scentist or molecular biologist and that you might actually need some help, without being made to feel like your completely useless and should be cleaning toilets for a living. "Ahhh man not another stupid newbie question! are these people completely
