W2000/PDC/logon drive
Hi,
It is possible to login a W2000 workstation into a Samba PDC (version 2.2.6)?
Can I use "logon drive" and "logon home" to mount automatically at login time
for W2000?
Thanks, in advance,
Sincerely

samba via ssh; some W2000 do not.
...a 2.2.8a. Since (Free)Swan flew into ground I've started to use
openssh to connect to the samba server. So far so good, what I do is to
forward 139 and then declare the samba server to be 127.0.0.1 in lmhosts on
the Windows WS. It worked well for all XPs Pro that I have tested but in 2
out of 3 W2000 Pro it did not. That is typing in explorer
\\sambaserver\drive like I do in XP resulted in a blocked explorer. Of
course doing net use X: \\server\drive works but my users are scared to
death of the command prompt; I can't seem to be able to do "net use" from a
.bat that is without ha...

Migrate from w2000 AD to S4

I'm always wondering to migrate our old windows 2000 AD for a clean and
fresh Sernet 4.1 S4 under debian. ( and use it after )
After a very lot of try (using temporary windows 2003 and 2008 servers
to migrate ) , now I'm facing these multiple problems :

r-mode (ESS/XEmacs) issue solved
Hi folks,
I was able to track down the problems I had
with xemacs / ESS / cygwin / MS W2000 to the
file "essd-r.el" in the ESS 5.1.18 package.
ESS seems to think, it is running
in a complete Unix environment and
sends the wrong command line option
("--no-readline" instead of "--ess")
to the MS W2000 executable "Rterm.exe".

Advices about migrate W2000 domain to SAMBA4
Hi, People:
We have a Old (well functioning) Windows 2000 AD domain. We wish migrate
DCs, if posible, to SAMBA4.? We actually have four sites with one DC in
three of them and three DCs in one of them. Just one DC is Windows 2008,
the rest is Windows 2000.
Join SAMBA4 as DC automatically is not posible, I think, because DNS
servers are not configured with 2008 behaviour and actual DNS entries

ADS Authentication
I'm about ready to smash my head through a wall...I could use a few answers.
1. When using security = ads, and completing net ads join, it was my
understanding that samba authenticated username/pword against ads, and
local posix accounts were nolonger needed, is this true?
2. If yes, I have not been able to get it to work. If I have a posix
user account with the same name as one in

Win 2000 Prof in workgroup with samba 2.2.2
Hi folks,
this is the problem:
we have several Win2000 PRO SP2 working in workgroup (not joining the
domain) with a unique local user.
The server Samba acts with security = user, with no encrypted password
and keeps the username/password of people who want to connect to it.
People log on the W2000 with the same username/password kept into samba
server but when we map a network drive, the samba server asks for the
password (ignoring username/password inserted with log on) and allows
the user to mount the area.
Even if the map is persistent, every time the user logs off, W2000
reasks for t...

Group mapping problem
Hi,
I have Samba 3 as Domain controller. From a Windows 2000 Professional I share a folder (c:\test) with access permission for certain domain user (MYDOMAIN\yo). I can access to that folder from other w2000 with that user validated into it. If I add that user to a unix group (domadm) and map this group to Domain Admins (net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=domadm) and change w2000 shared folder access permission for group MYDOMAIN\Domain Admins I get Access Denied. smbd process per user ( Samba 3 + Terminal server )
Hello all.
It is possible to force Samba 3 server to create "smbd" process for
each user that open file from Terminal Server ?
Sometimes I need close files , but can't do that by "kill <PID>" since
it should close all files that opened by terminal server users ..
It any flexible way to manage open files on Samba ?
Thanks .

Mixreg package
Dear R users
it's my first time using R and I am specially interested in doing analyses with the "mixreg" package.
I use W2000 but it seems the code for R is available only for Linux Os. Anyway I I downloaded the *tar.gz file of the package for R and the converted it in a *zip file.
Apparently the installation process was ok, but when loading it I got the following error:
