Hello! I'm always wondering to migrate our old windows 2000 AD for a clean and fresh Sernet 4.1 S4 under debian. ( and use it after ) After a very lot of try (using temporary windows 2003 and 2008 servers to migrate ) , now I'm facing these multiple problems : - Bug 9429 – Unable to demote Windows Server <https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9429> (and it's very the biggest problem since it will fix our domain and forest functional level for the future) - Bug 9828 – RSAT on NT6.0 (Vista) and newer not communicating properly with "OU=Domain Controllers" <https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9828> ( Yes it can be worked around by using windows 2008 server, but I have better migration result with windows server 2003...) So after a long study of the way we could upgrade we are thinking to restart from a new and fresh install of a Samba4 Domain controller. The biggest problem is that we have about 200 Clients PC and we could not move all the people at a time. So I thinking of run the two AD in the same lan, the old windows 2000 AD as is, and the fresh new one with no DHCP and Ddns for the moment, the time of migrate all the people... But I know it will last a long time, copy user profiles directory take a long time since they are heavy and we also have to manually set the network setting for all client... If someone have a better plan to move in a shorter and easy way, don't hesitate to write it here! ;) Thanks a lot in advance. Samuel
