ogginfo: playlength display in milliseconds
Hello Some time ago I posted a lil' patch to this list which adds milliseconds display of playlength to ogginfo. Some folks replied that it's plausible and this patch will be merged to the next version. Vorbistools-1.0.1 got out and the patch is not in it. Why? Anyway, here's this patch for vorbistools-1.0.1. I hope this time you will include it, because milliseconds support is crucial to one of my application (which is written in bash and uses ogginfo to get quite-precise play length of tracks). Questions about License and so on.
...de will have to be GPLed? As far as I undesrstand, there is no restrictions whatsoever with the use of the vorbis software libraries, other than there is an acknowledgement to Xiph.org for using the codec source, isn't? He is not trying to use or distribute other parts of the SDK (i.e., not vorbistools, etc). The only function of this components will be to encode or decode audio, nothing more. Thanks for any help. -- Rodrigo Gómez http://rgomez.msa.com.mx/gallery/

oggpack_writealign fails
Hi all, In order to get icecast working i found that i had to install libao-0.8.4 libogg-1.1 libvorbis-1.0.1 flac-1.1.0 speex-1.0.3 vorbistools-1.0.1 icecast-2.0.0 So i grapped the source files. I copied all the files to an 32-bit Intel machine, and *there* all files configured, compiled and installed OK But on the intended target machine (SUN blade server) i have a problem... libao and libogg configured, compiled and installed without e...

...folks have any pointers. Without further ado: System is a Win98SE machine with a 400Mhz processor and 160Mb of memory. I've downloaded all the newest versions of every .ogg encoder for windows that I could find. That includes two or three different versions of Oggdrop, the latest version of vorbistools, oggenc, and vorbis.dll for use in CDex (which is my ripper of choice). All my attempts to encode a wav into an ogg on my system have failed. In the cases of vorbis.dll (CDex), oggenc, and vorbistools, the encoding process crashes before it can complete. I've not been able to find a pattern...

Problems with ogg/vorbis python bindings.
...or directory I was told this may have been caused by an older version of the modules lying around somewhere, so I did a: find / -name "*ogg*" and find / -name "*voribs*" and deleted everything associated with ogg and vorbis, then did a clean install of libao, libogg, libvorbis, vorbistools, pyogg, and pyvorbis. This is the ldd output on vorbismodule.so asqui@martha:/usr/lib/python2.1/site-packages/ogg$ ldd vorbismodule.so libvorbis.so.0 => /usr/local/lib/libvorbis.so.0 (0x4000e000) libvorbisfile.so.3 => not found libvorbisenc.so.2 => not found...

manpages in mdoc(7)
Dear authors of Vorbis, currently, the manpages that come with vorbistools are written in the traditional man(7) markup language. I am proposing to rewrite them into the semantic markup of the mdoc(7) language. I am willing to do the work. Both the man(7) and mdoc(7) languages have been around for decades, and are supported by the prevalent formatters: groff(1) on most L...

wrappers
...sn't subscribed, and i'm unsure if it went out. I'm subscribed now and i've written another (i believe) nifty wrapper for oggz-tools. oggz-comments - allows a user to pass the plain text file with each tag on their own line theoracomment - works like 'vorbiscomment' from VorbisTools package, but sets comments for the theora streams inside an Ogg container. The only two things that you can't do with theoracomment that you can with vorbis comment are: 1. run a command and then enter the tags from console 2. use error codes in the same way If anybody has any suggestions...

Win64 problems
I am having problems with my program decoding .ogg files on the Win64 platform and am wondering if this is a known issue or not. I have tried using the prebuilt .dll's, the static .lib's and building from source (1.1.3) and I get the same results. My program is being compiled on a win32 platform, but the decoder fails if I run it on a win64 system. Unfortunately this is being reported

streamripper

You can even use vcut (from vorbistools) to trim this down > to an exact sample if you want to do program archiving with it. hmmm.. ok. something like streamripper would be nice though ;) particularly for things like archiving a certain number of seconds (i can write a shell script for that i suppose), reconnecting, etc. at least wg...

Oggenc/oggdec on Mac OS X
Hi, Has anyone succeeded to build oggenc and oggdec on Mac OS X with static linking? I can build libogg and libvorbis and install them as dynamic libraries (by running ./configure, make and then make install). Then oggenc and oggdec will load them in runtime and use them. That works fine. But I'd like to build these two command line tools so they're linked with all the libraries they
