Virgin Radio Classic Rock now in Ogg too
Firstly, please excuse the crosspost to both the icecast and vorbis lists,
and the slightly commercial nature of this post.
Virgin Radio Classic Rock, which is a sister station to Virgin Radio, is now
also available in streaming Ogg Vorbis. We also have 'now playing'
information working on both services.

Virgin Radio launches an Ogg stream
Apologies if this is a bit of a commercial post (I've not been lurking
long), but you might like to know that the world's most listened-to online
radio station has just launched an Ogg stream. (As of today!)
http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html
(or alternatively www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen from a non MSIE+PC
browser).
Any ideas you have to help promote this

Finding the median
Hi just a quick question in which I must use the "function and return" part of R.
If I was asked to define a function called "median" where the function has a single argument x and returns the median value of a vector. How would I go about saying the median = element x in terms of n (say (n + 1)/2 or whatever it would be) if there is an even amount of elements, or x in terms

snapshot troubles
Dear all,
I created some snapshots, a long time ago, using the xml description
option, so the snapshots have a name with a space in it...
Really a bad choice apparently, since it seems impossible to delete them
now: I cannot find how to enter the snapshot name properly due to the
space. Quotes don't seem to help; escaping the space doesn't help either.
Anybody knows how to solve this?

Prototype/Virgin objects => usable objects, aka default db rows => custom db rows
Hellos,
I''m kinda stumped, so hopefully someone can help me out.
I have a custom_modules table, in which I''ve defined default modules
for a skinnable website I''m designing. Those modules have default
values, such as css class, position (left/right) and so on.
When a user registers with the site, he gets a fresh new Template
object, which has_many :custom_modules.

New Ogg Vorbis streams
It might be interesting for this list to know that we've never had more
positive feedback for anything we've done on the website than the amount of
nice feedback we've got since introducing our Ogg streams.
Readers of this list might like to know that we've just launched another two
stations onto the excellent Ogg Vorbis platform. Again, we'd ask for your
help in publicising

formating DVR-RW
My Centos 6 wodim tell me that it can only format DVD+RW.
I have DVD-RWs.
Even when I format a DVD-RW on my standalone DVD recorder,
wodim still will not write to it.
Is there a centos-6-useable mechanism
for formatting and writing DVD-RWs?

There are legal ways to get the blood of
some virgins who cannot legally give blood.
That is an ickier subject for other fora.

Apologies for the simplicity of the problem but getting started with

No DVD Mirrors - Only Torrent
I love Centos. Have in on my data centre servers, my home servers, my
laptop and my netbook. Yes there are serious and continuing security
concerns relating to Gnome and KDE but they are not Centos.
Currently running 5.6 and would like a two set DVD of that version.
However none of the mirrors offer pure DVDs only Torrent versions which
involve the possibility of bits being tampered with and

Virgin Radio now on ices2 - yp not working though
This afternoon I've transferred our Ogg Vorbis Icecast2 streams from darkice
to the ices2 encoder. Apologies if you were trying to listen; I had to stop
and start the streams a few times. They should be stable now as I'm off down
the pub now! As a reminder, the URL for the streams is at
http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html.

Plotting coxph survival curves
Hi,
I am attempting to plot survival curves estimated by cox proportional
hazards regression model. The formula for the model is this:
F.cox.weight <- coxph(Surv(Lifespan, Status) ~ MS + Weight + Laid + MS:Laid
+ Weight:Laid, data = LongF)
MS = Mating status (mated/virgin)
Weight = adult female weight, continuous covariate
Laid = number of eggs laid by each female, continuous covariate

Samba 3.5.6 valid users +wheel not working
Hi,
I have a fairly simple setup in samba authing users against AD (windows
2008 r2). I have two shares, "homes" and "test_share"
I have found that even though I (glynnk) am a member of "wheel" I can
not get into the "test_share" witch has "valid users = +wheel" although
I can get into my "homes" share.

"dovecot virgin": 1st questions ...
hi all,
"uncle"! i've thrown up my hands with cyrus, and am looking for a 'better
alternative' ...
i'm brand new to dovecot (haven't even built it yet ...), and have spent the
last while reading through the LIST archives here.
apart from the TECHNICAL aspects, which seem _more_ than adequate/competitive,

"virgin" mail accounts
Hello,
I'm willing to swear that with the 0.99.10.4 Debian package in my
rather extensive tests with mailbox format dovecot created not only
any missing parental directories but also the INBOX file, but the
later I can't prove/test now as I upgraded all respective boxes.
However 0.99.10.5 will still create (if needed and possible) missing
directories for mbox storage, just not an
