mac player for ogg streams
Things to check out...
MintAudio (http://mint.unsanity.com/) says it has Ogg Vorbis support,
but I don't know about streaming. Unsanity Echo also lists Ogg Vorbis
support (http://www.unsanity.com/echo.php). I'd check it out, but I'm on
a slow connection right now.
BTW, http://macosx.forked.net/ has MacOS X ports of libogg, libvorbis,...

Mac Ogg Vorbis Player
Well, I updated the player to work with the branch_postbeta2, but it
contains some nasty kludges to the project files that probably shouldn't
be finalized. I'm going to put it in a separate file
(http://oscar.the-rileys.net/programming/vorbis_pb2.tar.gz) for now.
Unfortunately, this release doesn't seem to fix the "tearing sound"
problem. I think this might be related to

Ogg Vorbis Player(s)
...the Net in the OGG VORBIS format. I understand that
several French radio stations
(France Inter, France Info etc...) are adopting Ogg Vorbis and I would
like very much to try it.
I have heard of several players such as Ogg Vorbis decoder plugin for
Quicktime 6.2+ under MacOS X 10.2+,
Whamb, Unsanity Echo, Audion 3.
I am using a Mackintosh G4 Power PC, System OS X (10.2.8).
Your help and advice in this matter will be very much appreciated.
Yours sincerely,

What we need to make it
Here's what we need for a BIG popularity boost:
Good interfaces!
Yeah yeah, i know, i'll be bitched at on how I should do it on my own, but
one thing that always ticked me about MP3 - the lack of tools that do the
job without the mess.
What we need now is - an ID tag editor. Menu-driven, that means CLI or GUI.
We need that, badly. Encoder - GUIs for X and MS Windows. Right now,
encoding

Response to Ogg Vorbis comments
...e results. Does Winamp have Vorbis decode built-in?
Winamp just put the finishing touches on their own vorbis plugin, and we
expect it to ship in the next version. Sonique has already had Vorbis
for some time (millions of installed sonique players are vorbis
capable).
On the Mac platform, Audio, Unsanity Echo, and Macast are all vorbis
capable.
On linux, pretty much everything is already Vorbis capable.
That really leaves Quicktime, RealPlayer, and Windows Media Player (and
iTunes, although I'm not sure if the quicktime support will fix this. or
that C&G said they'd support it at 1...

vorbis players (or lack of) for mac
Perhaps the devel list would be better, but a) i'm not subscribed to it
just now and b) I'm lazy (dons flame-retardant clothing)...
frankly, i'm rather tired of the lack of free ogg vorbis players for Mac
OS; it doesn't look like iTunes is going to support the format anytime
soon (and i have some real issues with its interface, too)...so, since
I've decided to learn Mac OS

Client Problems
Thanks for the help, I can have people connect that are still on my local

...#39;t recognize the file on my desktop. Website also says: "The Ogg Vorbis
component now works with QuickTime 6.0.2." Well, all I know is that I
downloaded the new free Quicktime 6 from Apple, unstuffed the Ogg Quicktime
extension, put it in extensions, restarted and it doesn't work.
Unsanity Echo
Website says: "This product has been discontinued!"

ogg player for mac
Hi
Does anyone know of an ogg player for the mac (os 9) that actually works with
icecast. I've tried audion, macamp, unsanity echo, and mint with no results
whatsoever. They all play ogg files from disk, and all grab an mp3 stream from
icecast, but as soon as I try streaming ogg they all fail to regonise it.
(except for audion, which for some reason plays the stream as twice the speed?)
Thanks
Rob

Although it doesnt say it specifically supports ogg, and as it happens it
doesnt (I also have this confirmed by the developers of Macamp).
I have also tried the other two players Audion and Unsanity Echo
suggested by vorbis.com but they both dont seem to support playing an ogg
stream either.
I have searched the icecast archives and couldnt find any mention of a mac
player that works wth a live ogg stream,...does any one know of one?
Thanks in advance,

Mint audio plays static ogg, not streamed, last time I checked. Also,
has anyone actually gotten MacAMP or Audion 3 to actually play an ogg
stream from icecast2? I've tried all of them recently, and Whamb is...

Ogg Vorbis (fwd)
...Ogg Vorbis
Jack:
Saw your posting below on the pho list.
Proteron now has a nicely working Ogg audio encoder with a high-quality
interface on the Mac in N2MP3 Pro.
Please spread the word among vorbis folks that we're looking for beta
testers.
Works well for me in combination with player Unsanity Echo.
Although N2MP3 will cost around $60 retail, the ogg part is free for all.
Best Regards,
Mat Caughron

recent Vorbis, sound quality problems
Hello all,
I'm having some problems with the sound quality of recent Vorbis.
There is some kind of metallic echo/tremolo effect in the lower
frequencies. This is on my iMac; haven't seen this problem on x86.
If you need a sample, I can put one up somewhere, or mail it to
someone with a good ftp server, preferably.
It could be caused by the iMac sound system doing surround sound,
(Dolby
