OT: Grandstream power supplies..
...ld probbaly take too long to get one sent from China or the US and I need to get that station operational again.. There seem to be many choices for power supplies.. Looking on the bottom of the broken one it is a 5VDC 400mA output.. When I looked online for a new one the choices are for regulated, unregulated and switch mode power supplies with the regulated and switch mode ones being VERY much more expensive than the unregulated ones.. Which kind would do the job?? Also most of the variable output adapters are 4.5v or 6v, Not the required 5v.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks.. -- _________...

[asterisk-biz] Skype Outage Leaves Millions Speechless
...wouldnt admit if it was this, and its > likely that any front line people at skype wouldnt know one way or the > other for sure what is broke. Imagine if the world's largest online marketplace operated the world's largest alternative (and one of the largest in general) telco and an unregulated global online banking monopoly. And the telco suddenly went down, unexplained, for hours or days. That sounds like a serious threat to global economy and security, right? eBay is that marketplace, owns Skype, that telco, owns PayPal, that bank. This outage should be screaming from the headlines...

Another Asterisk Certification
What started out as a good thing for the community has veared it ugly head and will come back to bite us in the ass. I give my respect to the two companies that decided to put themselves 'out there' and attempted to bring 'real world' certifications of knowledge in an area that is unregulated, open, and currently has no measurement of how much one person has over another. What makes me different than the person next door selling the same solution. We both have access to the hardware, software and newsgroups. What is there to tell the customer that _I_ am better suited to solve the cust...

Anyone know where a good source of mailing l ist stats might be found?
...now if anyone has knowledge of any organization that might maintain such stats. Regards, Jim. I think you would find a lot of lists with similar activity and some with much more. The MythTV user list experiences a similar volume and some developer lists I am on come close. Fortunaly lists are unregulated and unmonitored by any "governing body", sometimes the keepers of lists will generate statistics on their own lists but I have never seen a comparison across all lists. -Nate

MetaMessage: Jessica Mydek, advertisements, etc...
...o a worthy soul(s) for > review before being placed on the list. takes someone's time, that does. > 2) Non-members who send to the list get a message explaining how to > subscribe/unsubscribe. i like this one, better. and including an apology, explaining that this is an unregulated list, and we keep getting spam. > I think that would eliminate the ads. we can only hope.... > What is the percentage of posters who are not list members? i think that it's fairly minimal: about one per week / two weeks. they usually identify themselves because they want to receive...

RE: the "cisco vs. Linux" thread
FYI this topic has been covered on the Zebra and Quagga lists - hardware processors, memory, NICs, etc - software OS (Linux, *BSD), drivers, etc I''ve been running a couple of Linux routers for about 2 years now, I''m using them as core routers so I bought a couple of rackmount "server" boxes with redundant PSUs and h/w RAID (1) for hotswap disks. I''m using

Systems Admin; Telecom Newbie - What do I ne ed?
>But currently, I only have one ethernet jack per office. Most decent phones have an ethernet passthrough (2 port) so you can plug in your PC. As long as your LAN is decent (Cat5 100baseT switched) the overhead using VoIP is

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is
