[Bug 495] New: Netfilter Connection Tracking Race Condition in Kernel 2.4.x
...ropping is caused by a race between the first packet of a given tuple making it to confirmed state, and the arrival of another packet with the same tuple. If a second packet arrives before the first is confirmed, it is assigned a new connection tracking context instead of joining that of the first unconfirmed packet. When the second packet is finally handled by ip_refrag(), the call to ip_confim() finds that there is already a confirmed entry in the table, and returns NF_DROP. >From the comments in __ip_contrack_confirm(), we infer that this is to deal with duplicated datagrams and some REJECT cas...

FWD network from Asterisk through NAT
Hi there, I'm trying to dial into the FWD network using Asterisk, though a NAT. The sources I've read say that it's unconfirmed to work through a NAT, but I'm wondering if anyone's done it anyway. So, anyone got a clue how to do this? Hank

Heads up - symlinked GotoBLAS in F14
...booleans/allow_execstack is 1 1 on my RHEL systems, but became (?) 0 0 in F14. Could anyone with F < 14 check its value there? The "fix" on F14 is: System -> Administration -> SELinux Management -> (root password, wait), then Boolean -> global | allow_execstack | Allow unconfirmed executables to make their stack executable [tick] The comments suggest that this is not a good policy! Following the adjustment, the booleans are 1 1, and R loads with symlinked GotoBLAS on F14. Roger -- Roger Bivand Economic Geography Section, Department of Economics, Norwegian School of...

Bugzilla bugs: close ones waiting for feedback >3 months?
Hi All, I've been going through the bug queue and there's a number that have been waiting for reporter feedback for a long time (in one case 7+ months). Would anyone consider it unduly harsh if I took an axe to the queue and closed any bugs (ie the unconfirmed or WORKSFORME type) that have been waiting for reporter feedback for more than, say, 3 months? (Unless there's a documented reason, like "I'll look at this when I get back from my 6-month around-the-world vacation".) If the user can't get back to us in a quarter year, it...

4.92 beta update to centos5 proper words of caution
...rom the centos5 beta to centos 5 proper despite the warnings, this is a(n incomplete) list of instructions for how to accomplish this 1. Get yourself into runlevel 3 (telinit 3 from terminal) as the dbus update will die if you're in X. 2. Setenforce 0 # turn off selinux as there have been some unconfirmed reports that it will interfere with the updates. 3. yum update 4. rpm -qa release="*fc6*" # this will let you find and identify the packages which had the release string changed from fc6 to el5. 5. manually update these rpms to the corresponding proper versions for centos5 proper. [SECURITY] Netfilter Security Advisory: Conntrack list_del() DoS
...ux kernels 2.4.21 (stable), or apply the patch below. OR: Do not use connection tracking on 2.4.20 based systems. Details: The 2.4.20 kernel introduced a change in the behaviour of the generic linked list support. The connection tracking core relies on the old behaviour to identify 'UNCONFIRMED' connections. =20 =20 'UNCONFIRMED' means we've seen traffic only in one direction, but not in the other. Since connection tracking was unable to identify such connections correctly anymore, they've been assigned a very high timeout. The patch below changes the co...

[VAPOUR] Dr Nic''s Magic Models
...#39;'t be bothered writing model files for each and every one? Watch closely as the Invisible Model Classes appear before your very eyes just when you want them, for each and every table of your database. WOW! Laziness at your fingertips. More, you ask? More? How about Astral Associations? Unconfirmed rumours suggest that Dr Nic''s Magic Models will perform the following stunning trick: class Foo < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :bars belongs_to :car end can be defined simply as: class Foo < ActiveRecord::Base end Tada!!!! That''s right. You ask @foo.car and a Car wi...
