R on solaris 10 on a 64-bit ultra60 sparc
Hi
since I have no experience with solaris and sparc-architecture. We
installed the latest Solaris 10 on a 64-bit ultra60 sparc machine. Since
the solaris 10 is said to run native linux-applications: can I just
download any r-binaries for linux? if yes, for which distribution?
or are there any solaris 10 binaries? or do I need to compile R myself
on the sparc?
sorry for this beginner-question. but I am grateful f...

Great stuff.
Please, can you share your adjustments to the Makefiles

Problem with Samba
Hi, I'm running (well trying really) samba on redhat 4.2. It installed
automatically when I installed redhat, and everything appears to be
running that needs to be on my linux machine. I am able to use samba
locally (from my linux machine to my linux machine) but when I try to
connect via my win95 machine, it doesn't find my linux box on the network.
when I click on entire network, It

apparent fix for Solaris 7 compilation problems
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the list... I was just assigned an Ultra60 with Solaris 7 to
setup and tried to compile openssh-1.2pre16 with...
"./configure --with-tcp-wrappers --with-egd-pool=/dev/entropy; make;"
And here's where the compilation process failed...

Testparm Solaris 8
Apologies if this has been covered already, I can't find any helpful hints
after 2 hours searching....
Testparm refuses to work on my e250 box - says it can't find the file?
Any pointers to useful docs will be greatly appreciated (other than SAMS
books and O'Rielly - been there, done that!), especially any relating to
Solaris 8 and SAMBA!
TIA

Question.
Hello all R users,
I tried to compile R1.3.0 on Solari Ultra60, R configured as
follows(command ./configure)
then I used "make" to make x files. I got the information which
looks that the X11 s unsupported.
Does anyone can help me to find the reason why I couldn't make the
successful compile.
If anyone has the precompiled R under sparc wo...

AW: Icecast1: "Client din't data fast enough"
Hello Geoff, Hello Hagen,
I have also this problem, I use shoutcast with shout. on a Sun SPARCServer 5
with 170 Mhz, and I don't know what I can do. Making higher buffering at the
server-side ?!? but where ?
Using a better Maschine (Sun Ultra60 with 2x450 UltraSPARCII Processor) its
the same problem: the stream is broken with "Client din't data fast enough"
in Logfile. I hear the stream in the Company LAN with 100Mbit/s, that can't
be the problem.
Is there such a compiling option ???
for helping this problem many many...

Also, old smbd processes were no "going away". To recover resources,
we set the "deadtime" parameter to 5. This removed any inactive
processes after 5 minutes.
Hope this helps.

I administer a Sun Ultra60 (2x450MHz, 1.5GB real memory, 2.5GB Swap) running
Samba 2.0.7. I run an average of 450 users at any given time without
problems. When I get many more than 500 users, I begin to have memory
shortage problems.
I am trying to find out how I can tune Samba, to reduce the amount of memory
needed per...
