SCSI controller setup
I have an IDE based PC running Linux/CentOS4 to which I wish to attach a scsi dlt. The host controller is an Adaptec AHA3940 something that lspci reports as: SCSI storage controller: Initio Corporation 360P (rev 02). I would like to have the system load the driver for this adapter at boot but I have two problems: 1. I am not sure which driver to use; and 2. I do not know how to force

Dell PE600SC with ServerWorks CSB6
Hello! Has anyone gotten 4.9R to recognize the "ServerWorks CSB6" ATA controller on a Dell 600SC? How about installing 5.2R on a 600SC? 5.2R recognizes the said controller, but it corrupts data. -- eof

Xen on Dell PowerEdge 1850 with Perc 4e/Si controller
Hello, I am having issues making my box boot with Xen. I am working with linux-2.6.16.28-xen on a gentoo box. The server is Dell PowerEdge 1850 with Perc 4e/Si, FW 521X. When dom0 reaches the point of scanning the SCSI controllers, it hangs in a loop aic7xxx_dev_reset_returns 0x2002. My regular (non-xen) kernels come up fine with detecting my adaptec scsi controller. Had anyone had the same

etherbridge bottleneck
I ran some iperf tests today and it looks like the etherbridge is the limiting factor on throughput. In the beforetime, I saw great throughput to the VMs; over 800 Mbps. With the bridge, the numbers are in the 400s somewhere. Is this the speed I can expect from the bridge? Is there some tuning I should try, or another way to get more bandwidth into the VMs? This is with xen-2.0, 2.4.27-xen0

DO NOT USE Software Raid1 and Ext3
Conclusion: DO NOT USE SOFTWARE RAID-1 WITH EXT3 I've started with this conclusion cause i am positive that raid-1 and ext3 are causing data corruption. I've upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2 and from the first date i run into data corruption problems @ least once per day (i was monitoring once per day only) after 7 days we bought a brand new server cause the previous was very old and i thought

Does kudzu handle this? Regards, Jim I am a digest subscriber so the favour of an

...sed computer music. So perhaps I'm an idiot or just not very music-software literate, but I so far haven't been impressed with Winamp, or the FLAC plug-in. Just for one example, I've got a dual-Althlon MP 2000 system running XP Pro, with 1 gig RAM, 15,000 RPM 3.9 msec access time SCSI Ultra160 hard drives, and a 52X CD ROM drive that does 52X audio ripping. And yet, when I play CD's with Winamp 2.91, I get pauses and glitches, but not when I use Media Player. Something seems terribly wrong to me. I have heard that Winamp 3 isn't very popular among Winamp loyalists, and many Win...

External Journal scenario - good idea?
...unassigned hot spare. The UltraTrak's SCSI interface is an Ultra2-LVD (80MB/sec) interface, connected via its external 68-pin MicroD cable, to a custom Granite Digital internal-to-external "Gold TPO" ribbon cable - which leads to the "B" channel of the onboard AIC7899W Ultra160 SCSI interface. The RAID unit is the only SCSI device attached to this channel at this time, and is terminated with a Granite Digital SCSI-Vue active diagnostic terminator. I have no indication or suspicion whatsoever of any SCSI bus problems. (I have also run same UltraTrak unit with same d...

I know this is a bit off topic but we are using Asterisk :) Since this list is full of tech gurus w/ all different sorts of backgrounds, I thought I would get the best opinions here. We have several different switches and other telecom equipment at our facilities which all have their own proprietary cdr platforms, which are rather limited. The company I work for is looking to develop their

...ce' runs unless there is a problem connecting to a share. I could probably take these out now as this was a warning for an NT bug. This does hold the file open for 5 seconds longer than required, but this was fine under NT (400Mhz/128Mb/IDE disks). The replacement is 700Mhz/512Mb/ vinum striped Ultra160 SCSIs, so I would expect it to cope. At least load wise. That NT bug: With the wrong domain name the user would be validated (username/password ok) but fail to connect to shares as he/she had not joined the domain. Samba doesn't seem to have this feature :) The kids of course would fiddle with...
