Compiz and Beryl are Reuniting
After several weeks of discussion the leaders of Compiz and Beryl have agreed that the two communities shall reunite. This decision is supported by both David and Quinn and represents the majority decision of the administrators and developers in each community. At this early stage not a lot has been decided, but these are the main points of the agreement: - As had previously been decided,

Looking for input
...content of the website, there has been some discussion regarding using a content management system on the site. You can see it in this thread: http://forum.go-compiz.org/viewtopic.php?t=98&sid=669e6ecc0315feb3b6ae3ade3ae058f7 You can also see examples of default CMS sites here: http://www.ubaight.com/compiz http://demo.joomla.org/demo10/ http://drupal.org/ There are lots of CMSs out there and as you see we each have our preferences and some of you may have other favorites. So the second question is: Is a CMS right for our site? My personal opinion is that we should decide what the CMS w...

CompComm has a real name!
Our previous attempts to select a project name for CompComm have not gone well. We tried a poll but the names in the poll were not pre-qualified to determine if they were usable and the ?winning? name was also a strongly disliked name. Kristian and I each proposed a plan to select a name, but that effort got sidetracked by a massive flame war on the mailing list. While our community has some

Final Round(s) of the Logo Contest
All the "contestants" have had plenty of time to discuss and edit their entries and now it's time to freeze editing and begin the final round(s). A quick review of the contest rules: 1. The logo poll requires a majority of the votes cast to win. 2. If there is no majority, we will drop the entries with lowest non-zero vote count and any entries with zero votes, then take

gitweb
I've got gitweb running now. You can access it here: http://go-compiz.org/gitweb.cgi I don't generally use git or gitweb, but it seems to be working as expected. Let me know if you have any problems. After you've had a chance to test it we'll put the link on the site. Jeff

Logo Contest - Round 3
We've completed round 2, and even counting a couple of people who wished to change their votes, Who's logo came up about 8 votes short and will be eliminated. Once again we had great turnout. Please vote for one of the remaining 3 logos. And designers, please remember no further editing. Also, regarding a suggestion to include the current logo, it was not submitted for consideration

Logo Contest Winner
Congratulations to some1else on his winning design! I'd also like to thank all the designers who submitted entries and all of you who took the time to vote. A lot of effort went into this contest and I'm quite impressed by the large number of high quality entries we had. Logo Contest Discussion
We've passed the deadline for new entries in the logo contest. We had a very good turnout with 11 high quality designs submitted. We will now have 3 days of discussion and unlimited modifications to these 11 designs after which we'll have a poll lasting 3 days. Since this brings us to Christmas Eve there will be no time for runoff polls before the holidays in the event one design

Link to required packages
Hi All, I decided that if I was going to contribute around here, I needed to actually build and install the current source so that I had some clue what's going on... Running ./configure gave me a list of missing (devel?) packages: No package 'xrandr' found No package 'xinerama' found No package 'ice' found No package 'sm' found No package

New top menu item
David, can we get a "Documentation" item in the main menu leading to a new documentation page? I'd like to add a Howto and some other info for end users but none of the 4 main menu pages seem appropriate for that. I didn't see a way to add a menu item through the wiki, so I think you need to do that. Also, have you any thoughts about a new official logo? There's a thread

Where are we going?
Hello All, The Managing Committee has spent quite a bit of effort over the last two months trying to define the direction and goals of compiz. One of the issues we struggled with was how to define the scope of compiz broad enough to include everything the community is interested in, while still keeping it compact enough to be easily included as a component in a desktop environment (DE).

Domain Names, etc.
Hello All, A quick update regarding the domain name issue. Ben and I have been in contact with Guillaume and things are moving forward. Guillaume has installed a re-direct page on compiz.com that provides links to both compiz.biz and beryl-project.org. He has also agreed to give David the compiz.org domain name. David, could you contact either Guillaume or myself with your registry

Compiz Community
Hello, I'm new to compiz and to this list but I'd like to contribute. I couldn't find a more appropriate place to ask a few questions about the compiz project (which is actually my first question). 1. Since the apparent compiz/beryl fork I don't see a compiz "community" site. Is there one? 2. Is compiz going to continue to be developed, and if so, is there a road
