Hung XFS filesystems on Samba server
...ostics has been run for hours. One of our other DL585 servers is physically very close to the problem server but runs NFS instead of Samba on XFS filesystems. It has not had this problem. The only significant hardware difference between the NFS server and Samba server is that the NFS server has all U320 hard drives. Physical config: HP DL 585 with dual processor and 3 6404 4 channel SCSI raid controllers. 6 U320 converted 4200 drive chassis with 72 GB U3/U320 and 146 GB U320. 8 GB ram. Firmware for all parts including disks has been flashed repeatedly over the last two years to current levels. Fir...

I have three zpools on a server and want to add a mirrored pair of ssd''s for the ZIL. Can the same pair of SSDs be used for the ZIL of all three zpools or is it one ZIL SLOG device per zpool? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Can anyone suggest a SCSI 3 card in either PCI-X or PCI-E x 4 for a Dell Poweredge 2900?
The only PCI-X card I have is an old ICP Vortex RAID controller and the Dell hangs with that installed (BIOS is disabled). It's only for a tape drive so performance isn't really an issue. thanks

What model LSI card? Is that card on the RHEL hardware support list? Does LSI/Dell have drivers on their site? Have you tried drivers from LSI/Dell and using the dd(driver disk)

PCI-X/PCIe RAID controller.
Afternoon, I've got an old Dell PERC 4DC (PCI 64bit/33MHz) sitting in my home rig and with a new board on the way that has PCI-X (133) and PCIe (x4) slots, I was wondering what people would recommend for a cheap hardware parallel SCSI RAID controller (no fake raid please) that is relatively cheap but faster then the old PERC? I'm looking for something cheap that'll do RAID-10 but

Installation sequence for 4.2 / 3.6 dual boot
Hello, I have a Dell 1850 with dual Xeon procs and two u320 36Gb drives. I would like to set this up as dual boot system with 4.2 on disk 0 and 3.6 on disk 1. I imagine that I would install 4.2 first and then 3.6. Would I need to remove the other hard drive while installing a given version? Any gotchas? How about setting up GRUB?
