RX/TXgain on bristuff/zaptel ?
Do bristuffed zaptel (zaphfc) supporting rxgain/txgain in zapata.conf?
I'm changing rxgain in zapata.conf, and reloading zaptel, but sound
level on ISDN(HFC) is always the same (loud).

ztmonitor
...I am feeling extra stupid this Monday morning and am hoping
someone can come to the rescue.
I am trying to use the ztmonitor utility on my wildfire 4 FXO
card. and have read the following from the wiki.
*********Wiki start********
If you set this to yes, use ztmonitor to adjust the rxgain and txgain.
Ztmonitor isn't installed by default; but it is included with the Zaptel
source code, so look in /usr/src/zaptel. Use ztmonitor like this:
?./ztmonitor?1?-v
?Rx?##################################Tx
Place a call, let the remote party talk, then adjust them until they
sound better.

rxgain / txgain for iaxmodem or hylafax
In trying to get the asterisk and faxing working
I had to resolve to using iaxmodem and hylafax.
I have incoming working, but outgoing the other fax rings
but it would appear from web searches that the fax signals
are too low to be "heard"
I can read about rxgain and txgain for zapata.
my fax setup goes direct from aterisk <-SIP-> SIP Provider <- Fax Machine ->
It never touches my FXS and FXO card.
Thanks in advance

Ztmonitor values when zap channel is onhook
...hem (last 2 channels are unused but configured in zaptel). Even when
the lines are onhook, the Tx values settle down to 0 but the Rx values
still jump up and down. For some lines the values vary around 440, for
others around 250 and for one of the unused FXO ports, its around 97 all
the time.
With txgain/rxgain set to 0.0, call volumes were considerably low.
Hence, I have txgain set to 1.0 and rxgain set to 6.0.
I was wondering if the ztmonitor Rx: values were normal for what they
show, or are they too supposed to settle down to 0. If this is not
normal, does this indicate any problems with the po...

X101P on a UK BT line ---- txgain issue
I am finding that I have to increase the txgain in zapata.conf to 8 when my
X101P is connected to my BT phone line, otherwise people can hardly hear me.
This then gives echo issues.
Do other people have the same problem on BT lines. I was wondering if I
should give BT a call and get them to increase the gain on the line. Strange
though as the r...

rxgain and txgain in zapata.conf
Hi,
Do you have some experience with the "best" values for those parameters in
youyr particular case?
I mean the best raport between sound level in both direction and echo
cancellation.
For me, the best result I can get is with:
rxgain=10
txgain=15
... the sound level is good, but the echo is a little bit to strong for my
taste.
Something interesting is that if I put a txgain value greater than 15 (let's
say 20), the external dial through X100P is not corrrect anymore. I get from
the PSTN operator the message " the number you hav...

txgain for SIP?
Is there an option txgain for SIP in Asterisk? My users all complain that
their other parties think that they are way too silent even though they all
have their mic volume all the way up and also enabled the 'mic boost' option.
This happens with all the clients that we're using and also with different

rxgain/txgain test numbers in Germany?
Hi,
does anyone have test numbers in Germany that would allow me to tune my
rxgain/txgain settings? I know there are numbers provided by other
providers in UK e.g. but have yet failed to find a number in Germany
(esp. by Deutsche Telekom).
Kind regards,

Is it possible to adjust the rx/txgain values per device? I have a mishmash
of different phones (soft phones & sip hard phones) and each of them sound
different w/the same rx/txgain settings. Is there any way to adjust these
via asterisk? I'm having the most difficulty with sjphone & these zultys

Calibrating both RX and TX gain?
...ust 12 or so feet away. When you put an analog handset on
the line, both the RX and TX volume seem to be just fine. However, when I
use the TDM card, I have to have an rxgain of 13.5, and even then, the
audio is relatively quiet. I'm also getting echo on these lines, so I
have turned the txgain down as low as I can and still be heard. Right
now, it's at -6, but it will have to come up some because that is too
quiet. But I still have echo.
I am in the middle of trying to get a milliwatt test line to calibrate the
rxgain properly. However, this won't help me with the txgain,...

Problems with the FXS module in a TDMxxx card (no sound when receiving a call)
Hi all,
I have a brand new TDMxxx card with 3 FXO modules and one FXS.
It has replaced my old 3 X100P cards.
The FXO part work as before, after some adjustments in the rxgain/txgain
part.
The problem I have is with the FXS module.
I can place calls to SIP/IAX or PSTN destinations without any problems, but
the sound received by the other part is much to strong and a little bit
distorted.
I have tried to modify the txgain up to txgain=-20, but still too strong.
..and this is...

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
...oming or
outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear
my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on
everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they
just say I sound a bit quiet.
Someone suggested I play with the rxgain and txgain but this didn't seem
to help. Is there anything I can do? - or is it a problem with my fxo
card or zaptel cards in general?
I'm running Asterisk 1.0.2-2 on Debain Linux (with zaptel 1.0.0-2) and
i've got the modem connected to an NTL phone line in the UK. Here is my
config's:

Hi all,
I have a TDM400 with all FXO on it. When I make an outgoing call, I

can't hear very clear. Can I adjust to increase the volume in callee
side? Is it increase the value of txgain can solve the problem?
