Adaptec 4port tulip card - IRQ-Sharing dom0/domU
Hello, I''m running xen-3.0.2-3 and try to share the 4 ports of a adaptec 4port ethernet card between dom0 and domU by using pciback.hide. Therefor I had to modify the domU driver for the tulip cards due to the fact that there is only one eeprom on the board and all 4 ports of the card are using the same interrupt line. When starting the dom0 tulip driver (unmodified) I get two working

Zsh fork bomb paniced my kernel.
Hi, My machine just bombed when I did the following stupid command. :(){:|:};: Zsh chewed up everything on the machine... I ran it knowing I'd probably have to reboot. But, I hardly expected it to panic. Or, was that normal? Anyway, the following is some detail... Please mail me if there is more I'm ment to do. Thanks in advance :) ultraviolet@tulip:~ %> uname -a FreeBSD

Ethernet puzzle
So I just finished doing a fresh install of CentOS 6.3. The machine has three ethernet ports in it: one on the motherboard (VIA Rhine), and two add-on cards, an Intel Pro100 and an old SMC1255TX. When CentOS comes up, this is what I see in the dmesg output: # dmesg | grep eth e100 0000:00:08.0: eth0: addr 0xf6043000, irq 16, MAC addr 00:02:b3:be:02:87 eth1: ADMtek Comet rev 17

Errors on install...
Hi all, I found the web site for R and decided to install it on my freebsd system; however, I have run into 'permission problems' during execution. I do the standard .configure, make, make check, make install and install into the default location of /usr/local/... but when a normal user attempts to run 'R' I get the following: --- [tulip ~]% R R : Copyright 2001, The R

Win98 command line vs. long filenames
I just cranked up Samba 2.0.6 on NetBSD-sun3 1.4. The clients are Windows 98 (non-SE). I have had experience with earlier versions of Samba, so I was able to get 2.0.6 up and running without great difficulty. I exported a directory and was able to mount it on my Win98 machines fine. Using Explorer, everything looked like I expected it to: files were listed with their full names and I was able

Samba writing speed with big blocks
Hello ! I'm having serious problems with Samba's writing speed (both 2.0.5a from RH 6.1 and 2.0.6 compiled from sources) on a 100Mbit network. If I write a file with block size 65487 or less, then the writing speed is about 7-8 MB/s - a very nice value, my bow to the Samba team :) If I change the block size to 65488 or more, then the writing speed falls down to 3 MB/s, which is not what

kernel oops generated by smbfs module
Greetings, I have run into a kernel oops that I can generate at will, and that hangs my machine. The machine is running Gentoo Linux, 2.6.11 kernel and gcc 3.3.5. I can post more information if needed. The problem arises when I mount an SMB share from a 2000-series Snap server (network appliance); software version 3.4.804, hardware 2.0.3. The mount is fine, and can sit for a long time. However,

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the samba client does not get an error message, but the job gets lost. :( I would like the print jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an active print job or when the printer is off-line. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd. The

network driver corruption? Interface disappeared
Hello, I've got a very unusual network interface issue on centos5. I'm setting up a router box, with two network interface cards, the first gets it's information from a dhcp server, the second is statically configured. I have no idea what happened, but yesterday the internal interface eth1 stopped showing up. An ifconfig eth1 showed the interface not found, but an ifconfig -a

Error in memory allocation
Dear UseRs, I need a litle help. I'm trying to read a .dat file of about 71 MB using read.fwf (as data recorded are in fixed width formatted data). R starts in reading data, but after some time, about 1/2 hour, I get this error: Error in .signalSimpleWarning("Reached total allocation of 510: see help(memory.size)" memory.size() 529880586 R is running under windows: sysname

Packet Loss !!
We have been using HTB for last 10-11 months without any problem. But from last few days we have been facing huge packet loss when we turn on traffic shaping using HTB. I upgraded to 2.4.24 kernel (without any htb patch), still there is same problem. Avg. traffic is around 2Mbps and 4Mbps at peak hours. There are around 110 HTB classes and SFQ attached to each class. We are using 4 port Tulip

Dual or quad fast ethernet NICs (that work with CentOS)
Hi, I am looking for dual or quad fast ethernet NICs that work with CentOS. There is no need for high performance so regular fast/pci is ok. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Upgrade from Hell
For those of you running SuSE 9.1, I do not recommend upgrading to 9.2 at this time. Refer to http://shorewall.net/myfiles.htm for information on my configuration: a) On Ursa: 1) After the upgrade, both of the NICs were recognized as "configured" in YAST yet neither of them would start; ifup claimed that no configuration could be found for either interface. Only got them running

Printing problems with NT/Samba
Hi, This is a message requesting help for the following problem: Printing Word 97 documents, stored on a Samba server, on an NT4 system to an LPD print queue fails under certain well-defined conditions, creating an empty file called 'Ne<number>:' (e.g. 'Ne120:'). The problem appears to be easily reproducable, as long as you have more than 99 print queues on your NT system.

[Bridge] recent crashes? Linux kernel 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 (Linux Fedora Core 5)
At the risk of angering the crash Gods, my sustem has NOT crashed again since I downgraded the kernel from 2.6.18-1.2239.fc5 to 2.6.18-1.2200.fc5. Given that newfound stability, and my lack of time, I'm going to put on hold any further diagnostics, until the next kernel revision is released. I have submitted a report at bugzilla.redhat.com (bug 218128). (Ah, nuts; accidentally created a
