Theora patent question
...bably use the patented algorithms in FreeType without being worried about a suit. I for one doubt that Theora truly does not infringe on some patent or other, because I believe that the way the patent system works today, it is impossible to write anything of significance without accidentally "trespassing" on this or that patent. ...policy reload. You can then: add them to your local policy file (/etc/selinux/targeted/src/policy/domains/misc/local.te); cd into /etc/selinux/targeted/src/policy; and make reload as root. You may have to repeat this process several times to exhaust all of the circumstances that a packages trespasses against SELinux. You will probably find it most convenient if you keep these changes segregated by application in your local policy file. I also have found it useful to post them as a set on SELinux related mailing lists (and even this list) for comments by people more knowledgeable than I...

ZFS and powerpath
How much fun can you have with a simple thing like powerpath? Here''s the story: I have a (remote) system with access to a couple of EMC LUNs. Originally, I set it up with mpxio and created a simple zpool containing the two LUNs. It''s now been reconfigured to use powerpath instead of mpxio. My problem is that I can''t import the pool. I get: pool: ###### id:

The next level up is to have a service that automatically reject pull requests with an informative error message. /Henrik > > Gabor > > >> On May 24, 2015, at 5:44 AM, Rainer M Krug <Rainer at krugs.de> wrote: >> >&gt...

OT: Replacing Venerable NAS
I have an original-label Infrant (now NetGear) ReadyNAS storage appliance that's been running for 8+ years. Except for replacing its power supply, it has not skipped a beat in all this time. I use it primarily as a backup device (via NFS) for a couple of Linux machines, (via SMB) for a couple of Windows PC's, and (via ftp) for web sites at my hosting provider. SMART+ reporting shows

...teback cache. EMC, Nimble, NetApp, and the like cost what they do because of those HA features. EMC storage processors have specialized shared backplanes and replicated write caches just in case an SP goes down while the data to be written is in cache and has yet to be committed (so that the trespassing SP can write the correct data to disk). They also have dedicated battery backup units and the whole concept of the 'vault' drives to specifically save the write cache in a powerfail emergency. But I would love to see something in the free software space that did that kind of thing,...
