Call Quality Issues with IAX?
...ovided got this information, but it sounds like a crock. I've never experienced any of the above issues with IAX. I am concered about the reference to a "lossy protocol". How is a protocol lossy? I've heard of lossy compression, which has nothing to do with the protocol used to trasmit compressed data...but I've never heard of a lossy "protocol". Thoughts? Thanks, Aaron -- http://www.aaronjangel.us/

Subject: Passing DID to external number?
For the DID's the easiest way for you to trasmit the incoming DID is to create custom extensions for the external numbers that access the external trunk directly. (e.g. they should NOT go to Loca/xxxx. or it will not retain the orignal CID in freepbx- which is effectively how it is being sent when you put xxxxx# in the ring list). As far as why...

TxFax works only with one of 2 PRI
Hi there, I'm Using TxFAX to send faxes via Zaptel PRI. I have 2 PSTN PRI Providers, with the first provider, all faxes are trasmited fine. With the second provider, faxes can't be sent, we suspect about the setting of this PRI provider, perhaps is doing some compression somewhere. Any suggestion welcome. I've tried these txfax calls with these results: txfax(${FAXFILE}): Fax receive not successful - result (50) Disc...

" eth1 transmit timeout ... "
...- Samba Version : smbd 2.0.0beta3 My Linuxbox has two ethernet interfaces (eth0:200.* and eth1:192.168.1.1) After installing samba, everything worked fine during 20 minutes only ! After that, a strange problem occurred with eth1. The following message appears on the Linux console : " eth1 trasmit timeout status 0000 ID 000 ... " (something that looks like this) So, the internal net (192.168.1.0) stops to work ! I get impressed, but when I kill smbd and nmbd processes, the problem disappeared. My single smb.conf file is : [global] printing = sysv printcap name...

Rsync connection times out on very large --files-from
I've been trying to rsync a very large list of files specified by --files-from to an rsync daemon and couldn't really figure out why it wasn't working, but I think I finally understand the error. I unfortunately don't have the error to paste here for you all to see, since it takes several hours to get it (and I'm working on a workaround to rsync the files so I don't have

Corrupt CDR records in Asterisk 1.2.x
I have a problem with CDR recording in Asterisk 1.2.x. This is the situation: An Asterisk 1.2.0 (BRIstuffed-0.3.0-PRE-1 with florz) machine with a single HFC-S ISDN BRI card. I log the call records to both the Master.csv and MySQL. The problem is that when an incoming call from the ISDN line is logged to the CDR, the "src" and the "clid" field show up as something like

However, if a person in the remote office dials 911, How can the 911 operator determine WHERE the emergency is?? QoS in wireless networks
Hello, I''m trying to configure several wireless routers with QoS support. The idea is to implement differentiated services so that VoIP traffic gets the maximal priority, then video, control traffic, interactive data traffic and best-effort traffic. I have seen that CBQ used to be chosen as qdisc for implementing bandwith share in DiffServ but now HTB is preferred because it is

Hi, We have a 256 kbits/s (kilobits per second) link to the internet. it is a router running Linux that belongs to our ISP. They have given us 8 internet ips. (i.e- subnet is 255.255.255.248). one has been given to this router. I have given another internet ip to the firewall running CentOS 4.5. iptables is running on it. And also, I have installed iproute2 pkg as well. pls see below for
