Odd icecast hiccup problem with low-bandwidth cellular client
...erver streaming a 96kbps mp3 stream (using all the latest as of today
software, winamp, icecast2 and oddcast v3) so I can listen to it on my cell
phone while at work.
My phone does GPRS EDGE data at 131kbps-ish, just barely fast enough to keep
up.
I know 96kbps SHOULD work with this because Di.FM trance streams at 96kbps
and I can listen to that hours on end off my cell phone connection and it
plays smooth....my own connection however isn't working so good.
When my phone connects all it does is hiccup and skip and then some,
occasionally reconnecting altogether, and just not playing smoothly....

Bandwidth & Cost for broadcasting
Hi,
I'm CTO for a new Techno/Trance Radio named Let's Go Zik
(http://www.letsgozik.com) and i'm looking for the cheapest solution to
broadcast. For the moment, we're using Live356 for relaying our stream.
It's quite good but a little bit too cheap and not handy (they do not
provide multiple bitrate relay, ...). This i...

FLAC: ERROR, MD5 signature mismatch
Hi
I have downloaded a FLAC file somewhere and when trying to decode it to WAV
it gives the error message: ERROR, MD5 signature mismatch
So my question is now: are FLAC files that give the error message above
still decodable to WAV (and how can you do this, because flac.exe doesn't
want to decode the file), even if there is a MD5 signature mismatch, or is
this not possible at all?

playlist script
Hi, I am looking for a script for icecast that will generate playlists
with a few requirements.
For example, our station broadcasts 3 styles of techno, and it sounds
wierd when you drop a more mello trance style track in the middle of a
hard house style set. so I need to be able to say, play 7 songs of type
1 then 7 songs of type 2 etc.
Also some songs should get a higher frequency in the playlist then say a
98 classic.
and finally some way of intergrating it with a web request system, and
having...

Digitially Imported radio - let's ask for Vorbis
...t Vorbis streams.
There's even a thread asking who is willing to help set up Ogg
streaming. Unfortunately, the DI staff hasn't accepted any of our offers
for help yet. (http://www.di.fm/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44740)
For those who haven't heard of DI Radio:
if you like trance, dance, techno, or other electronic music, try di.fm.
(They also have a classical, jazz, and salsa streams!) It's my favorite
station in the galaxy.

Over dial-up modems with fixed data rate? I can't imagine you are doing
this with a VBR codec. But if you are doing it, I am sure I and the
rest of the list like to understand how it works. If by streaming you

What rigs do you folks use to listen to your music? I have a P-III 500

Lansings are off the top of my head. The Labtec speakers are fairly
cheap. I have a PCI ensonique sound card in the P-III system. I not sure
