Is it always the same area in the file that is corrupt ?
The fact that it's on a 4K page-aligned boundary is
interesting. If you can corrolate I'd love to see

The amount of files not working seems to vary, but usually within the 10
first copied files. You can download a copy of the source test files
from https://mirrors.tnonline.net/?dir=samba including all checksums.
The file https://mirrors.tnonline.net/samba/test2-ro_no_io_uring.7z
contains 1000 copies of the source file
The file https://mirrors.tnonline.net/samba/test2-ro_with_io_uring.7z

Samba 2.2.2 as a PDC for XP logins
...CD from a Windows XP
machine. However I don't remember what exactly I had to do to make it
work. (I never changed the Samba settings, just fiddled around in
Windows.)

Thanks Anders, I'll take this as verification that it can be done and
struggle on. Does it require registry tweaks?

Lost Connection when transfering large files...
Using Gentoo with kernel 2.6.1 and 2.6.3 and Samba 2.2.8a and 3.0.2a.
Mostly when I transfer large (100+MB) files from a WinXP machine to
the Samba server I get the following error:

[smbd] read_socket_data: recv failure for 34944. Error = Connection reset by peer_
The WinXP machines also say "Delayed write failed. The data has been

Samba and IEE1394
This might not be the correct group to post to, but maybe somone could
tell me wich groupd it should go to (as I haven't found any good
ones).
I have Windows XP machines with IEE1394 (FireWire) LAN. Windows has
built in support for OHCI compliant cards and can use them as a normal
NIC, but with 400Mbit.
This sollution is cheap and alot faster than normal a 100Mbit LAN. The
problem is now

How to connect across the Internet
Hello All,
Well my Samba server is up and running good, but I am now needing to
be able to let some of my users connect to our server who is not
located on our local network.
Actually they are located some distance away and I would like to be
able to allow then to connect.
Has anyone had any success with this and how it might be done?
Best Regards,
Lonnie

WinXP PDC logon problem...
Hi all,
I've seen this raised as an issue on other mailing
lists, but I've not seen a solution, and I've seen a
number of notes to post to this alias instead, so
here I am.
I've setup Samba as a PDC running on Solaris. I have
a WinXP (latest patch levels) PC which I want to
join to the domain. I can successfully join the
domain using root authentication, but I am unable to

No computers visible in network neighborhood unless adressed directly.
I am using Samba as a PDC with Windows XP clients. Everything
seems to work ok (except for some bugs not related to this)
except that none of the clients sees anything in the domain
(Entire Network\DOMAIN). All computers/shares are accessible
when brwosing \\computer. This is not the case when not using
Samba as PDC.

NTFS file streams and Samba?
Is there any way to keep file streams over Samba shares? I realize
that Linux filesystems does not have something similar. However one
way Samba could do it is to use additional files (hidden to users).
It could also be possible to use a plugin module for ReiserFS 4?

Wrong charset when mounting WindowsXP shares
Hello,
I don't seem to be able to mount a WindowsXP share with smbmount and
get the correct charset. From what I understand Win2000/XP use UTF-8
for SMB shares, so I tried to mount with -o iocharset=utf8 but it
did not make any difference. All extended characters are messed up
or truncated.
Here is what I found out using filenames with a '?':
When I mount a
