Samba 3.0.4 + Veritas Backup Exec

[LLVMdev] Can I port LLVM as a source-to-source compiler?
Hello, I am working in a project on a parallel programming language. I want to base our language on Java or C/C++. But Java is preferred. Many similar projects adopts a source-to-source methodology, e.g., Berkeley UPC(using Open64), Titanium, and Rice University's Co-array Fortran. They output C code with calls to the runtime. I think there are at least three reasons: 1) using C as the output, it gets more portability. 2) leverage the front ends of existing compilers. 3) leverage optimizations in existing compilers. I wonder if L...

Joining samba-2.2.x to a domain.
A little background info before I begin. I'm using samba-tng as a PDC (netbiosname 'TITANIUM' and the domain 'FOO') and samba-2.2.7a as a fileserver (netbiosname 'HAILSTORM') on the same machine. (different interfaces) The PDC is all set up and I've joined several windows 2000 clients and I encounterd no real problems. But all the files on the samba-2.2.a serve...

How to boot into a different kernel

USB flash drive stopped working properly....
...w long a USB flash drive will work in CentOS or is this a bug or ? ? ? I'm running a Dell Precision 390 with a Pentium-4 HT 3GHz, 2Gb mem, 1 SATA 150Gb (?) drive, multiple USB ports (including KB&mouse), etc., using CentOS 4.4 with the 2.6.9-42.0.8 kernel. u2f seed
That sounds like the application param is still used as part of the process though? Would allowing the user to specify the application work in the Solokey case? What is stored in the private keyfile? The documentation says no private key is stored there. So is it just information used to reseed the public/private key? Thanks, Kevin ________________________________________ From: openssh-unix-dev

FTS search with CLucene giving odd results/exposing config issue
...dir naming structure that results in a double slash (//) which doesn't seem to impact IMAP serving or Sieve, but maybe is causing the problem above with Clucene. Any hints? If I run a search from Thunderbird and "run search on server" for a somewhat infrequently used term like "titanium," I get results in more or less every archive folder one by one over about 20 minutes of searching and get about 516 results. It seems to run a little faster without the "run search on server" checkbox selected, but Thunderbird on Windows is abandonware and the only useful datapoint...

Mac and Excel
...reat; I've been uncertain as to the best way to get data in/out of R (on the mac, of course). An actual algorithm/procedure would be met with great rejoicing. I think I'm going to have to get one of these things sometime soon, since they aren't going away (anyone see the article of the titanium G4 powerbook that set off a bomb scare at US airport :-)? (note - I _DO_ know how to do it; it's trivial for me, at least, using windows and/or unix, it's the Mac-centric solution that I'd like) best, -tony -- A.J. Rossini Rsrch. Asst. OT: Fortunate clueless dd chum - lvm recovery
Looks like the chum did not have to lose any data. Wiping out the MBR and the next 63 blocks apparently only wiped out grub stage1, partition table, and part of the lvm config data. I get to try to do a lvm 'recovery' at his expense now but this is my first time...has anybody ever tried restoring lvm config data back to the md/pv device? Cheers, Christopher

Terrible FPS on Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO)
Hey all I've been trying to get some good FPS on this game and I can't seem to get it work decently at all. According to the AppDB for LOTRO a lot of people seem to be able to push out 80-150fps on this game. I don't know how as I've scoured the internet and have tried every possible registry tweak you can imagine. I even tried niceing the process to see if it would make a

Only a very minimal U2F token without an on-board RNG might derive the key pair purely from the parameters in the registration message; I don't know if any such devices exist. This actually made me curious and I checked the simple FIDO1 U2F token I have here (HyperFIDO Titanium): It issues a different key pair each time, even if the registration message is exactly the same. As would the Solokey. Every time you run "ssh-keygen -t ecdsa-sk", the token will give you a different key pair, and this is enforced by the token itself. > What is stored in the privat...

Might be buying a Mac
I might be buying a Mac tomorrow. I checked out the new 13.3in MacBook at the new Apple Store on 5th ave in NYC. I''m torn between the smaller MacBook and the MacBook Pro. We have a pro at work and I''m not that thrilled with the way it feels. I like the keyboard much better on the 13inch. However, I think doing development on that small of a screen could get frustrating. Any
