spandsp / compilation errors
I am attempting installation of spandsp on to an Asterisk installation on
Linux RH9
the distribution i am using is that are URL http://ftp2.tootai.net - the
README for which i have followed verbatim -
my only issue on this was the target for the port.h / tif_dir.h / tiffiop.h
files in the 'headers' folder of the distribtion
i put these in the /usr/include folder based simply on the fact that there
is nothing in the /usr/local/include
the tiffio.h / tiffvers.h files are not in here so i am beginning to suspect

Spandsp - Libtiff problem
Hello all,
I use Fedora 3, and I have compilation problem of SpanDsp , when
installaing spandsp, tiff warnings and errors generated and libunicall
generate "unresolved references....."
Is the problem in my libtiff installation, spandsp.h or in tif_dir.h and
tiffiop.h?
Are tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h too old?
The solution provided by ?HO SIN? to ?Kaws? :
>>> recompile libtiff from the downloaded tarball ,
When I recompile the libtiff , and execute ?rpm ?q libtiff? , it always
give the old version and the problem not resolved yet,
>>> so you...

^5 problem with chan_unicall.c for Asterisk
.... To solve this, I needed to recompile libtiff from the tarball. When installing libtiff, the default directories will be under /usr/local, so you will need to link /usr/lib/libtiff staff to /usr/local/lib/libtiff staff.
2. The installed libtiff from tarball still does not contain tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h in right place (i.e. /usr/include or /usr/local/include), so you need to copy these staff from "libtiff" directory under the untarred directory. In fact you do not need to use Steve's header files if you do like this.
3. At least the latest version of spandsp, libunicall and lib...

...ave trouble with
Canon machines, who finds the latest code seems OK.
The APIs of spandsp have changed, so you need to use the newser
app_rxfax.c and app_txfax.c you will find in the above ftp directory. It
is no longer necessary to use the not-quite-standard libtiff header
files, tif-dir.h and tiffiop.h, which are required to build spandsp-0.0.1

A software FAX modem
Hi all,
I would like to announce the availability of an initial test version of
a totally software FAX facility, suitable for use with Asterisk. This is
a first public test release, so don't expect a solid polished product
just yet. People have shown interest in what I am doing, and here is the
evidence that it is not vapourware.
If the notion of a software FAX machine is new to you,

Softfax/spandsp
...andsp you will find a new version of the
software. You will need TIFF version 5.5.7 or later installed on your
machine. Make sure no earlier version is there - they seem to cause
crashes. Depending how TIFF has been installed on your machine, you may
need to copy the header files, tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h, which you can on
my FTP site, to your /usr/include directory (some systems seem to
install these, and some do not - spandsp needs them installed to build).
The spandsp library may be built by unpacking the tarball, cd'ing to the
directory and using the time honoured incantation:
