Hi all, There is a test version for the next release of spandsp at ftp://ftp.opencall.org/pub/spandsp/spandsp-0.0.2pre2 Only use this if you wish to experiment. In general, using spandsp-0.0.1 is probably more stable right now. If you have had problems with Canon FAX machines not accepting FAXes from spandsp-0.0.1 you might like to try this version. I have had at least one report from someone who used to have trouble with Canon machines, who finds the latest code seems OK. The APIs of spandsp have changed, so you need to use the newser app_rxfax.c and app_txfax.c you will find in the above ftp directory. It is no longer necessary to use the not-quite-standard libtiff header files, tif-dir.h and tiffiop.h, which are required to build spandsp-0.0.1 Regards, Steve
Hello Steve, I installed your latest version on Fedora Core 1 and it still does not work for me: Oct 3 11:58:40 VERBOSE[294930]: -- Executing RxFAX("Zap/1-1", "/tmp/testfax.tif") in new stack Oct 3 11:58:40 VERBOSE[213005]: -- Accepting call from '' to '97474099' on channel 0/1, span 1 Oct 3 11:58:40 DEBUG[213005]: No echocancellation requested Oct 3 11:58:53 VERBOSE[229390]: == Primary D-Channel on span 2 down Oct 3 11:58:53 WARNING[229390]: No D-channels available! A few notes for those wishing to try: - I had to install package audiofile-devel (for audiofile.h - didn't need this for 0.0.1) - The Makefile expects global-tones.xml and tones.dtd to live in sub-dir 'spandsp', so just create it at the Makefile root and mv those files into it. - Because I had already patched my */apps/Makefile for the previous versions of rxfax/txfax, I didn't need to use the Makefile.patch in this latest version. Thanks for the cool app! Ryan

I got a fax sent from a Ricoh bells and whistles Fax/Copier the Ricoh said everything was OK. The message, hand written, was "This is your fax test" I got a tif file 6226 bytes long, but Gimp complains and then shows me a page with a thick black line at the top. Regards Dave Cotton
