Grandstream GXP2000 resetting all the time
All,
I have AAH 1.0 installed using Digium TDM04B and Grandstream GXP2000 phones.
All seems well other than the phones have to be reset up to 5 times per day.
It is like they lose thier ip connection or maybe thier SIP connection. Has
anyone else experienced this issue? I have the phones set for static IP
addresses and that doesnt seem to help either. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

samba permissions
There was another tech coordinator that asked the following on our list:
> Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to give students
read/write permissions to a certain drive letter without giving them the
ability to delete other (or thier own) files. Currently I have chmod
1770 permissions (read write, but only owner can delete) and one owner
(the teacher) for all the files, but that will not allow the student to
view thier own reports (??!) Any suggestions or help would be greatly
appriciated.
Can this actually be done? Make...

Advice on possible set-up
...I have been reading the mailing list archives and google results but havent
been able to find quite the information i am looking for. Perhaps someone on
the list can give me a hand.
Our company has several sites. Two of which we regularly make calls between over
the PSTN. Both sites currently have thier own PBX systems but they are not
linked by any means other than the PSTN (and we pay by the min for calls
between sites)
Both sites have at least 1Mbit+ connections to the Internet.
What would the best way be to enable calls from a site1 to be routed accross the
broadband connection to site2?

Windows 2000 Terminal Server Connections
We have "upgraded" from NT Terminal Server to Wk2.
In Windows NT we set the registry MulitpleUsersOnConnection = false.
What is thier in equivilance for Windows 2000? Our Samba is running out of
free connections per Terminal Server. Currently that number is 128.
We have 5 terminal servers and each server spawns a single smbd process with
128 connections.
Do I have to increase the number of MAX_CONNECTIONS and recompile samba?...

:order in partial
Hi,
i was looking through the docs and couldn''t find a good clean solution
for ordering a partial with an :order clause.

sub-categories (regular belongs to) and wanted to order the
subcategories according to a certain column;

And a regular /usr/local/etc/samba/smbpassword file.
Again, All I am looking for is the ability to have my users map thier unix folder on my servers to thier Windows Explorer as another drive, again, that appears to be working.
A few last questions if anyone has time for them:
1. Are there any show stopper security risks I need to address with this type of setup?
2. How does Samba allow authenticating from the Samba...

Is my Apache server running as the root user or not?

running as the user "www" and the group "www" .. Yet, when I run sockstat, it tells me
one of the forks are runned as root and listening on port 80 as well as the other forks
are runned by www:www.. If I got a lot of users connecting to my server on port 80, will
thier requests ever be answered by the root fork or the www:www forks?

Servers
Hey guys,
Im interested in hearing about servers (and thier hardware specs) that
successfully run both asterisk and samba for an office of maybe about
12 extensions (SIP) and about 12 workstations. Im hopeing to not only
replace a traditional PBXs with Asterisk/Linux but to provide a solution
to needs such as a file serving, email serving, etc.

...ome modification, it's now working. i installed postfixadmin as
it have freindly interface, because, beside me, other admin does not
feel comfortable inserting the data through dump black and white
command prompt.
there is 2 problems:
1. what should i do so that the user does not have to fill thier full
email address (user at domain1.com) at the login page of squirellmail.
it's moreindly to just put "user" as they used before.
2. how do i convert all the previous email to the new mailbox format.
anyone have had an experience doing this?

user script' setting or if they do, then there is an an undocumented
bug, issue, etc. The scripts work fine from the command line but
aparently samba won't execute them properly. Since I cannot expect my
users to understand enough of the vagaries of Unix to log in with ssh
and add thier machines to the system I don't see how samba-ldap can be
implemented in a production environment.

Samba password expiry time
...expiry period is around 40 days. I would like to change
this to say 90 days, but have been unable to find a way.
I tried the option "password expire time" but testparm doesn't seem to
recognise it.
There is nothing in the official Samba How-to about this.
Has anyone managed to set thier default expiry time?
I am using Samba 3.0.14a-Debian with an OpenLDAP backend.
Cheers

Polycom-SIP response 500
Hi list,
There are many Polycom experts on this list -- hopefully someone has a solution.
With *several* versions of Asterisk 1.4.x, doing a reload of Asterisk
causes the Polycom 601 phones to start dumping these messages to the
CLI.
-- Incoming call: Got SIP response 500 "Internal Server Error"

They continue on until we force the devices to reboot from the

Is the error threshold for a degraded device configurable?
I look after an x4500 for a client and wee keep getting drives marked as
degraded with just over 20 checksum errors.
Most of these errors appear to be driver or hardware related and thier
frequency increases during a resilver, which can lead to a death
spiral. The increase in errors within a vdev during a resilver (I
recently had three drives in an 8 drive raidz vdev "degraded") points to
high read activity triggering the bug.
I would like to raise threshold for mark...

windows file compatibility aka A Cry For Help
...saves its configuration and
security settings onto the network. Well, after putting the files onto the
linux box, it no loger wants to work, the security check fails.
calling the vendor they asked 'is there any compression' because they have
seen this behavior with compressed drives, and thier explanation is 'toolkit
looks for a specific file geometry and compression throws that off' -- so
my interpretation is that the file has to be written correctly when read
I can only guess that samba stores it a bit different, and therefore the
geometry is off...
Does this make any sense?...

Samba and BackupExec
Hi,
I've got Samba 2.0.2 and a server NT4 SP3 with Seagate BackupExec 7.0.
When I want to backup Samba with Seagate BackupExec, I get a message
saying "Unable to connect to server, <F5> to retry", and then another
one saying "A device specific error occured".
I've read all the Samba archive about that subject, but I do not find
any solution.
