Is there any Asterisk controllable thermostat?
I am wondering if there is any such thermostat available which can be
controlled from Asterisk. Like you call your home pbx, dial some extension,
e.g. 333 and it asks to set the temperature, you enter a temperature, and it
sets the thermostat to that temperature. This thermostat will be very
useful, e.g. when you're coming back home after a...

NUT shutdown on 'building alarm' (
...uld like to use NUT to shut
down my systems if the air conditioning fails and the room get too hot.
I want the same shutdown sequence as would be produced when the UPS goes
on battery.
The UPS has a terminal block at the front for up to six different
'building alarms'. I can connect a thermostat (35C) to the 'Alarm 1'
contacts. If the room temperature reaches 35C, the thermostat contacts
close, and the UPS signals 'Building Alarm 1'.
I have browsed the NUT source code, and it appears that the driver itself
can detect this. But it also appears that there is a commented-...

Dataset on Baltimore home energy costs
...d, older storm windows to more

1-Sep-04: Date when I upgraded 4 failed, older storm windows to more

significantly change the heat loss?
last week of July 1999: Spouse moved in; both adults absent during the
work day, setback thermostat used. Interesting question: Is there a
discernable difference in the energy costs for heating between a single
person and a couple? What's the heating "cost" of adding a spouse or
roommate?

Checking fan state
I just replaced my fan in my nc2400. It was a 5hour job. Had to pull
EVERYTHING to get to where they have the fan in the thing.
Now I want to know if it is working. It is suppose to be
thermostatically controlled, and it takes time to heat up.
So how can I find out what Centos knows about the system temp and fan state?
It was hard to tell if I put the connector in the right way. At least
if that is all I did wrong, I can get to that connector with only
pulling the drive....

Grandstream BudgeTone 102 initial experiences
...keep the
handset in place when on hook. I haven't asked the Grandstream
folks about this--maybe I got a dud or maybe they already
plan to address this.
I just bought a new house and am seriously thinking about
sprinkling these throughout and using Asterisk to control
things like the lights and thermostat (oh, and for phone
calls, too).

Asterisk to switch on electric heaters remotely?
Hello
I'm sure someone has already tried this: I use a couple of electric
heaters to heat my office.
I'd like to somehow connect them to Asterisk so that I could switch
them on remotely by either calling the IVR or sending an e-mail to the
Asterisk host, so that the room is warm when I get to the office :-)
Any information appreciated.
Thank you.

mac address authentication
So I am trying to allow dumb devices to join my enterprise wifi. I am
running radius server samba 4.2 So I want to add users with mac user name
and password ?
Is there a way to create separate group policy password requirements for
mac addresses. When I add mac address as password I get error message that
password does not meet requirements.

Voltage transfer points.
Hi,
Need to get an answer to the following. I find the naming to be
little redundant regarding the 'input.transfer.boost.low - hige'.
The same goes for input.transfer.trim.low - high.
As I find it, there is only one point where the boost or buck (trim)
kicks in.
Let's say that the nominal voltage is 230 volt, then we have a
input.transfer.boost point on say 220 volt.
If the

Upgrade path from CentOS 7 to future versions
...that I should "Embrace Change!!!",
because a) I don't need anyone's opinion to justify how I feel about how I
deal with something, and b) just because you *can* do something doesn't
mean you *should*. For one example, I do *not* embrace change in the form
of, say, Web-enabled thermostats (and they do security updates exactly
*when*?, or Web-connected cars (are you out of your friggin' alleged
mind?). So, why should I go to something NEW! SHINY! when what I have
works well, and is comfortable?

And automatic upgrades are *NOT* always a Good Idea. For example, just...

I'm going to tackle learning C this week, and start writing my first *

it's done.. I think I've chosen a hefty project for my first go round
here...
I'd like to get some feedback from everyone on a FindMe/FollowMe spec
