1.0-test59
http://dovecot.org/test/
No-one had been testing 1.0-tests with Evolution? It was pretty much
completely broken with messages having attachments.
- test58's output stream code change were entirely wrong and caused bad
breakages with mbox.
- Named pipes are now treated as write-only mboxes (blocks if no-one is
reading, perhaps it should timeout in a few seconds?)

possible bug with mail->get_header and caching?
I don't know if this is intended or not, but here it comes.
I have
* that copy plugin I was working on
* dovecot 1.0-test59
* thunderbird test client
My copy plugin looks for the X-DSPAM-Signature header line, and reports
it to syslog as such:
imap: we have a signature: "X-DSPAM-Signature: <sig>"
where <sig> is replaced by what is found in the header line. This only
happens when I copy in/out o...

Dovecot causing hanging on random folders...
I've been using the 1.0 test series (currently 1.0test 67 and before
that 1.0-test59) and both exhibited this issue.. I use Thunderbird and
will open one or two of my nested Maildir folders via imap and find that
it goes out there trying to open the folder (according to the messages
that Thunderbird claims) and it never comes back.. I've attached to the

Dovecot response to "FETCH" command
Hi folks.
I just converted my site from UW+mbox to dovecot+maildir (stable-test59,
2005/02/25). For the most part, everything is great. The server seems
faster and less memory intense than the UW server (this part has made me
very happy). And it's definitely more user friendly to me than Courier.
There is one thing however...
A few of my users are using the web base...

dovecot-stable: NIL from in envelope request
Using the latest dovecot-stable (20050213) with pine, I get an empty

happen with the first dovecot-stable (20050131). A partial connection log is
below:

...d any Dovecot libraries and it's
backwards compatible with Cyrus SASL by default. You'll just need to
set one variable in Postfix config file to enable it.
Patches and instructions in:

Not very well tested yet though. And it doesn't work with 1.0-test59,
you'll need to have at least today's nightly snapshot.

compact folders, expunge, etc
Test58 and test59 breaks "compact folders" and "expunge" in thunderbird
and evolution. Messages marked for deletion just sit there as if
compacting folders or expunging have no effect.
Thunderbird continues to behave erratically with dovecot test builds. I
haven't been able to test the ima...

just gets "imap" there, but I didn't figure out where this string comes
from or what it ought to be.
So I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me.
Thanks, Peter

corrupted inboxes
Hi all,
Two users on our system have recently had trouble reading their
inbox, and it seems to be a result of their inbox getting corrupted.
In the most recent case, their Mailbox file (in /home/eric/Mailbox
in this case), has the following as the first line:
cnw.igmg--
Here's a piece of the logs below... if you look for "eric", there's
