Unknown dict module: mysql
Hi I'm trying to set up the dict/expiry plugins, but the dict server always tells me it can't find the modules although they should be there and compiled in. System is: Centos 5.2 64 bit, Using rpm from http://atrpms.net/dist/el5/dovecot/ dovecot --version 1.1.3 Relevant config: dict { quotadict = mysql:/etc/dovecot-dict-quota.conf expire = mysql:/etc/dovecot-dict-expire.conf }

clustered file system of choice
Hi all, I am just trying to consider my options for storing a large mass of data (tens of terrabytes of files) and one idea is to build a clustered FS of some kind. Has anybody had any experience with that? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any and all advice. Boris.

estimating backuppc
...f we jump up their storage to say 2Tb, that's going to be $5000 for LTO-3 with magazines. This affords us 3 week rotations rather simply. If we add hard drive storage for backups instead of buying LTO-3 tape drive, how much storage would we want for backing up 2Tb of binary data...surely not 6 Terrabytes? Craig

mdbox import error from read-only filesystem
...er solution for this problem. Suggestions: first, the doveadm import should never modify the indexes, and second: the open() calls should respect the read-only filesystem and should fall back to "r" flag when using open. The problem goes further when using SIS (which goes beyond multiple terrabytes). The only workaround currently is to export the whole mdbox data to a writeable storage, and parametrize the import command to use that and the mounted SIS data separately for import...which is just problematic, ugly and error prune. Thank you for the continous work on dovecot, I hope you get th...

Dell mirror raid boot problems
Everyone, I was recently given a Dell raid 386 server that had drives that had gone bad. I replaced the drives with a couple terrabyte sata Seagate drives, and set up the bios for a mirrored raid configuration. I was able to install Centos 5.2 without difficulty, but when it was time to perform the 1st boot it went to grub instead of booting off of one of the mirrored drives. I could not

Q regarding large transfers.
Hi, I read in the FAQ that rsync uses ~100 bytes/file of RAM when building the list. I wonder, is there a way to measure how long this process takes (adding one file to the file list)? I would like to synchronize terrabytes of data but I'm afraid the scanning process will take a _very_ long time. Does rsync have some smart caching algorithm up its sleeve so it does not have to perform a total rescan upon the next synchronization? Can R handle large dataset?
Hello, I am new to R, can anyone give me an idea of how R handle a large dataset (e.g. couple of Gbytes)? Thanks a lot! Best, Mingjun

"busy hang" on e2fsck (on a ext3 partition)
(There really doesn't seem to be a dedicated e2fsprogs list, so this was the next-best place I could find. I don't place much faith in the sourceforge forums..) The filesystem in question is a 480 gig ext3 partition, on a hardware RAID5 controller. It's approximately 90% full, with something like 115K files. Kernel 2.4.20-pre4, on a Duron 900. As I type this, e2fsck has used up

CD Baby using FLAC to archive 40,000 CDs
Hey FLAC gang - Just thought you'd like to know CD Baby has switched to FLAC for archiving the 40,000 CDs we have in stock. Luckily HD space is down below $1/gig so we got a 6-terabyte RAID-5 box set up for about $7000. Got the FreeBSD boxes churning away night and day, ripping and archiving. I'll do a more formal press release for ya in a couple months as we're further along, but

OOT: Advice on failover rsync setup
Hi all, I have a task on setting up a cluster of 2 servers for providing ftp service. We use RH's Cluster suite. However the cluster setup is lack of shared network storage, so the /var/ftp/pub is mounted on each server. The cluster is set with Master and Slave configuration (when the master is down, slave serves. and when master is up again, slaves gives up the service back to master). We

Will rsync adopt Kerberos integration?
...do ./myscript <principal> <port> <source> <host at destination> This works for the purposes of creating a Kerberized connection over which the backup can take place, and will adhere to all user access controls. The downsides are that the tunnel is encrypted and is slow (terrabytes over gigabit ethernet takes a while), and also requires that the principal's posixAccount have a valid homeDirectory and loginShell to establish the ssh tunnel rather than being a non-interactive service account. It would be really good if we could use the rsync + rsyncd approach with a co...
